The Heart of England / Peak District / Cheshire region

Chester is one of Britain’s major tourist destinations – this beautiful and historic border city surely needs no introduction. Walk right around its well-preserved ancient walls, discover the abundant Roman remains and experience 21st Century shopping in the unique galleried half-timbered medieval “Rows” which form the heart of the city centre. A cruise on the river, a visit to the cathedral or a day at Chester Zoo – famed as much for its extensive gardens as for its wonderful collection of animals – no visitor can fail to be delighted by this most rewarding of cities.
The Chester / Christleton area
Set around a large duck pond, the pretty Cheshire village of Christleton offers visitors a local shop, a traditional village inn serving food and an historic church. Only three miles away is the historic city of Chester – dating back to Roman times – which has been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Within the city centre examples of many different historic periods can be seen, from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times to medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed town houses, Georgian terraces, Victorian halls and 21st Century architecture. In addition to the incredibly diverse backdrop, the city offers shopping in its famous 'Rows', as well as lovely walks around the old Roman walls. Slightly further but still within relatively easy driving distance are the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline.

Guestbook for 2550 - Mallards, No 22
The owners had gone out of their way to make this a comfortable and well presented property. Ideal for visiting Cheshire and North Wales. There are three good pubs close by and a local shop. The house was warm and comfortable.

,This was a lovely property in a gorgeous location right on the canal with a sweet little garden. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we could wish for. I had bought the cottage as a birthday gift for my parents (Dad's 80th) and they loved it. The proximity to Chester, the two pubs within walking distance, the canal - in short everything. The cottage had lots of space for a birthday meal for 8 and we all loved it. I think my parents would definitely stay again.

,I cannot recommend this property enough. It was old world charm with all modern comforts. Its central location and easy access to the A55 made it ideal for touring the area. The house had a homely feel and our children were very relaxed there. The information provided by the owner/previous holidaymakers to the house, on things to do in the area, were a great help. The proximity to the canal, the countryside and the city, meant that there was always something to do if you fancied a quiet stroll or a good night out. It was along a road which was busy during the day but was fairly quiet at night. As we were out all day, it had no affect on our holiday. Great house!!

,Excellent location, so close to Chester and North Wales as well as many other attractions. It is situated in a very pleasant village with a good selection of local pubs serving good food. The canal just outside the back door is another plus.
