The Annexe at Badgers' End was purpose built as a Granny Annexe and is attached to our home but totally self-contained with separate entrance, patio area and parking close to the entrance. The picturesque village of Farndon (voted 11th prettiest village in UK by The Times) lies on the River Dee and borders North Wales and Cheshire.

Walkers, Golfers, Cyclists and those seeking peace and quiet can enjoy a fantastic break here.

The Sandstone Trail is approx. 6 miles and 2 golf courses at Carden Park are 3 miles away. Cyclists are well catered for with Route 45 of the National Cycle Routes a mile away.

The historic city of Chester, voted the 5th prettiest city in Europe by the Americans, is 8 miles away (a 20 minute bus ride) and the Designer Outlet Village, Cheshire Oaks, is approx. 20 minutes by car. Within 40 minutes you can be in the pretty Glyn Ceiriog valley, Llangollen, or a little bit further afield is Snowdonia and the highest mountain in Wales, Snowdon.

The accommodation is exceptionally comfortable with a luxury 5' bed, egyptian cotton bedlinen and towels, Nespresso coffee maker, Bose radio/CD, TV/DVD, WiFi, use of a Mac computer and printer.

There is a two ring ceramic hob and a combination convection/grill/microwave but there is NOT a separate oven.

The accommodation is furnished with antiques and is not suitable for young children or toddlers but might be suitable for a couple with a young baby (babysitting could be provided - owner is a registered nurse and CRB checked).

The Heart of England/Peak District

Farndon is a pretty village 8 miles south of Chester with the river Dee bordering the welsh village of Holt. There are pubs serving excellent food, a restaurant, a pharmacy, post office, beauty salon, hairdressers, newsagents and butchers all within walking distance of the property. A bus service runs hourly into Chester and to the welsh market town of Wrexham, approximately 6 miles south west of Farndon.

It should be noted that if you choose to 'street view' the postcode you will not see the road on which our property is situated. The house is an individual design tucked away and many local people are surprised to know of the location as the house is not visible from any roads.


The walled roman city of Chester has plenty to occupy the historian as well as the retail enthusiast! The Designer Outlet Village, Cheshire Oaks, is a 20 minute drive away and is worth a visit if in search of a bargain.

Walkers can enjoy strolls along the riverbank in both directions from the property or slightly further afield there are the walks of the Sandstone Trail or the Ceiriog or Llangollen Valleys. Snowdonia is a pretty drive of approximately an hour.

Cyclists can enjoy many cycle tracks and the popular Cheshire Cycleway is nearby.

Local National Trust properties Erddig and Chirk Castle are less than 40 mins away. Both are excellent days out. For garden enthusiasts there is the award winning Grosvenor Garden Centre, and Stapeley Water Gardens. The Dorothy Clive garden nr Nantwich is well worth a visit.

Golfers are well served with De Vere Carden Park and it's two golf courses only three miles away. Booking is advisable for the Jack Niklaus Course, others may prefer to be pampered in the day spa at the same venue.

"Excellent accommodation with home from home comforts"

Excellent property, every comfort you could require. Lovely welcome pack. Close enough to Chester and all the amenities needed but also nice to be in a peaceful rural location with all that offers. Owner very friendly and helpful, down to having the use of their PC and allowing a mid-week 3 day stay. As a single female traveller I could not have asked for more, would highly recommend this property but not when I want to stay in it again! Ideally need your own transport.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found everything to your liking. I shall clear the diary when you wish to return!!

"Lovely little cottage and owners to match"

The cottage has a very homely feel and is fully equipt with many unexpected extras. Its beautifully decorated and furnished/equipt to a very high standard. Very friendly owners make it a pleasure to stay here and we would happily stay here again if re visiting the area.
