Townhouse | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Friary Townhouse is a Grade II listed period townhouse in the heart of historic Chester and within the City Walls. Within a few minutes walk to most major attractions, including the racecourse, the cathedral and Chester's famous shopping rows, Friary Townhouse is close enough to experience Chester's city life, yet because of its setting just off one of the city's main streets, it is quiet enough for when you want to relax and unwind.
Friary Townhouse is perfect for those wanting an exiting City Break or for those wanting a quieter holiday whilst still being close enough to explore all of Chester's history on foot. With free Wifi and our cinema room with large sofa and projector, Friary is also suitable for Corporate Lettings and for business people. Plug your laptop or iPad into the projector and prepare, practise and even perform your presentations.
At the end of the street you have access to the main shopping rows, as well as coffee shops, bars and restaurants. If shopping and bars are not your thing, the Cathedral is just 5 minutes away on foot, as is Chester's famous Eastgate clock. Or take a stroll around the City Walls and absorb the history en route, including the 'King Charles' tower, where the monarch watched whilst his troops were defeated at the Battle of Rowton Heath, as well as much existing Roman history, including the amphitheatre.
Set over three floors, this period townhouse retains many original features, whilst bringing you modern comforts. On the first floor there is the hallway, lounge, dining room, kitchen and shower room with WC. There is also a well-sized 'courtyard' garden, which is not common in city centre properties. As well as a modern and efficient central heating system, the lounge has a wood-burning stove for those cosy winter nights.
The first floor contains the first bedroom and a cinema room with projector and DVD system. This room also has a large sofa-bed and converts quickly into a third private bedroom.
The second floor has the second bedroom and main bathroom with feature victorian-styled bath.
The accommodation is very flexible, with two lounge areas for added privacy or space, or using the cinema room lounge as an extra bedroom to make three private double bedrooms. This makes it highly suitable for people to share and for business people.
We try to extend this flexibility to arrival and departure dates too, to make sure your holiday works for you. Contact us to request a price for your preferred arrival and departure days, or simply to see if we can accommodate them. On the run up to your arrival we will give you the contact details of our property manager so that you can confirm arrival and departure dates. It may even be possible to negotiate your own 'check in' time so as to tie in with your travel arrangements and get your holiday started as soon as possible! Our property manager will meet you at the property and will be contactable throughout your stay.
There is no long stay parking outside the property, except for unloading/loading and off-peak hours, however a car is not essential due to the excellent location of Friary Townhouse right in the city centre. There is plenty of parking nearby for those who want to arrive by car.

The Heart of England/Peak District
This area is steeped in relics from the Industrial Revolution, set amongst beautiful countryside ideal for hiking or simply exploring. In the heart of the Peak District National Park are the towns of Buxton and Bakewell, set amongst the rolling moors and rivers. The Peak district borders Sheffield on its east side, a city with a once thriving steel industry.
From Sheffield over to Manchester on the north western tip of the Peak District, you can follow the canals lined with old industrial buildings from steel works to cotton mills, some converted and others standing as they were. To the south of Manchester is Quarry Bank Mill, an example of how things used to be. Experience hands on exhibits and watch demonstrations of cloth making from cotton. See Europe's most powerful working waterwheel in action. Close by is Styal village, being built by the mill owners exclusively for the workers at the mill and is still a thriving community.
Manchester itself is an interesting city to visit, steeped in a history of industry and football. Moving further west is the port city of Liverpool and of course the city of Chester itself. Liverpool has many attractions aside from the excellent shopping and leisure facilities. The Maritime Museum based on Albert Docks is well worth a visit and is free to enter. The museum is spacious and the exhibits are well crafted and thought-provoking, showing a history of the port with the sea. A major attraction has to be the Titanic exhibits, including the 'Untold Story' and many artifacts from the vessel herself. A short walk away is the Museum of Liverpool, again with free admission and giving a great insight into life in Liverpool, from pre-historic times to present day.
Whether it's culture, history, walking, landscapes, shopping, dining or a mixture of everything, the Heart of England has so much to offer.
Chester is set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside and close to the border with North Wales. Close to many major motorways, getting around is no problem. Liverpool, Manchester, North Wales and even the Lake district are easy drives away.
On the outskirts of Chester is the famous Chester Zoo, world renown for its breeding and conservation programs. There is also the Blue Planet Aquarium.
Chester itself is known for its shopping rows and independent shops, as well as fine restaurants and bars. It is also steeped in history, from Roman Chester through the English Civil War and beyond, Chester has always been one of England's significant cities.
Chester of course is home to the famous racecourse. There are many exiting days of racing throughout the year, with many themed days and evenings.

"Beautiful property, fantastic location and would definitely recommend."
Lovely period property right in the heart of Chester. The rooms were beautiful and we really enjoyed our weekend. The only very small let down was that the property could have perhaps done with another settee in the living room. Extremely helpful key holder with lots of information. Parking was a bit of a pain but we would'nt expect anything else in a city center. We would definitely recommend this property for all types of visitors and it would be the first place we would look to book if we visited Chester.

"clean, comfortable and great location."
On arrival at Friary Townhouse we were warmly greeted by the property manager who kindly showed us around and made us feel very much at home. The townhouse was beautifully presented, clean and had all the luxuries a group of young professionally needed including a bottle of wine!!
We would recommend Friary Townhouse to anyone looking for accommodation in the city centre whether for business or a weekend away.

"Lovely house and perfect location"
We were extremely impressed with Friary House, and also the owner who was very helpful and friendly. It's a fantastic house, very well equipped and lovely decor. The cinema room was a big hit with the two children in our group and the wood burning stove was very cosy in the evening.
Perfect location as it was just a very short walk into the centre of town and it was ideal being able to have on street parking with the permit.
We would definitely love to return here next time we visit Chester and have already recommended it to friends and family.
Many thanks :)

"Loads of charm and character with comfy beds"
The Friary Town House is one of the best rentals we have stayed in and is very special. It has loads of character and charm with a very quirky feel to it with gorgeous well thought out decor in every room, lovely comfy beds in the bedrooms with nice bedding and plenty of storage for your things, woodburner in the living room and lovely original features. Good heating system and very nice large bathroom on the top floor. It`s close to town whilst still being nice and quiet.
Very friendly service and fab welcome pack.

"Fantastic property in the heart of Chester"
This home is pure luxury! I stayed with friends for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time. The house is centrally located just a few hundred metres from the high street. The whole house is furnished to a very high standard, with separate sitting and dining rooms. My favourite room was the top floor bathroom with free-standing bath, although it is a tough call as the cinema room was an excellent touch too. Sleeps 4 comfortably but can fit 6. The bedrooms are well furnished and the beds really luxurious with lovely duvets and extra blankets. Full wifi connection and signal throughout all 3 floors of the house. Cozy wood burning stove that is easy to light. Very reasonably priced and I would certainly stay here again.

"Excellent accommodation in lovely, central location"
I definitely recommend the Friary Townhouse in Chester. It is perfectly located for a city break with no need for a car – you are within the city walls and can walk to the shops in under a minute and the amphitheatre in about two minutes.
The cottage is furnished to a high standard with quirky features and details. The cinema room is an excellent addition – perfect for lazy evenings! It is very well equipped with everything you could need for your stay.
The service was warm and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. Everything has been thought of and the welcome pack was a really nice touch.
Overall, a high quality self-catering property in an ideal location, in a beautiful city.
