Activities at Milton Brook
You'll find lots to do at Milton Brook. We have an indoor heated swimming pool along with a games room. There is a pool table in the games room, along with tables and chairs. Or, if you fancy a quiet stroll in the Cheshire countryside, Milton Brook offers 150 acres of land which is bordered by the River Gowy.
Delamere Forest with its 'Go Ape' is a short drive away as is Beeston Castle. The Candle Factory in Burwardsley and the Ice Cream Farm at Tattenhall are also very popular attractions!
Whether you are visiting Chester for the races and the famous shopping rows, the Capital of Culture Liverpool or North Wales for the beautiful countryside, Milton Brook is the perfect location for your stay.
There's even a picturesque local pub!
Fishing at Milton Brook
For those of you who prefer the peace and tranquility of the lakeside, we offer free fishing to all our guests, on the production of a valid EA license. The stock pond has a variety of specimen fish, including rudd, roach, tench, bream and carp, ranging from 2lbs to 16lbs. It is ideal for beginners and the experienced alike, but we ask that novices are supervised for the well being of the fish. The bait we recommend is either maggots or bread. The welfare of our fish is our primary concern, therefore we kindly ask if guests could use barbless hooks and refrain from using keepnets. Please contact us in advance if you would like to add this to your holiday. Guests are required to bring their own equipment with them.
Beeston Castle was originally occupied by a Bronze Age settlement and an Iron Age hill fort. In 1225, the Earl of Chester Ranulf de Blundeville, founded an impressive 13th century stone enclosure and bailey castle which towers over the local countryside from its sheer rocky outcrop.
Peckforton Castle is set on a hillside above the Cheshire Plain, it's Britain's only intact medieval style castle and offers a whole host of things to see and do. Built in 1851 by John Tollemach, you're sure to be impressed by the castles imposing stature and fortified walls.

Manley Mere is a great place to visit for a fun-filled family day out and only 10 minutes drive from Milton Brook. There is something for everyone. For the more energetic, pull on your wellies and take the kids on the Adventure Trail, or walk around the lake; have a windsurfing or sailing lesson, hire a canoe for a paddle or row across the lake in a five man rowing boat; or… you could just sit and relax on the comfy couches in the Chameleon Bar & Restaurant, with an open fire, whilst enjoying lake views & watching windsurfers and sailors on the lake.
Again just about 10 minutes drive away is the Crocky Trail. The Crocky Trail is an outdoor adventure trail one mile in length with loads of activities along the way, such as mazes, swings, slides, bridges, tunnels etc, though there is always a way around the more challenging obstacles. They have a tuck shop which sells a selection of chocolates, sweets, cold and hot drinks although people are welcome to bring along snacks and picnics to eat in the picnic area, play area or along the trail in the open countryside.
