From the owner

Maison Par La Grange (By the Barn) is nestled in the heart of the Perigord-Limousin national park in the quiet hamlet of Lascaux.

Located just 1 km from the village of Cherronac, which is the source of the River Charente and situated along the Route of Richard the Lion Heart, five miles from the historic town of Rochechuart with it's grand castle, this traditional stone cottage set in it's own land offers tranquility and relaxation.

Ideally located for the numerous lakes in the area which offer bars, restaurants and a wide range of leisure and sporting activities, the cottage is perfect for watersports enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers or for anyone who wishes to explore rural France and it's tranquility.

The cottage is well situated for all amenities, including the many popular Dordogne and Haute-Vienne local farmers markets, vide greniers and brocantes where bargain hunters will be able to spend hours enjoying the traditional culture of this distinctly French region. For history lovers, Lascaux is situated in the Pays de la Meteorite, famed for the meteorite that landed 200 million years ago and is just a short drive from Oradure sur Glane, the village that has remained unchanged since it underwent a Panzer attack in World War 2 and is a must see for anyone visiting the area.

Locally, the nearby town of St Junien is known for being the centre for glove and leather manufacturing in France as it and the Limousin region is famous for it's distinctive cattle and being the home of pottery making in the country.

The cottage has recently been renovated in keeping with the traditional French style of exposed beams and stonework. It benefits from its own private garden with outdoor dining area. The kitchen is set in the original working bread oven whilst the living / dining room comfortably seats four people. With 1 large double bedroom, including a sofa bed in the living room, the cottage is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay. If you worry about air conditioning, worry no more, stone properties have their own air conditioning system, during the summer months is lovely and cool in the house, making it a perfect retreat from the midday sun.
