"Gorgeous Gite, perfect for families and groupes"
Jane and Neil have 3 gites in a converted barn. We stayed in Buddleia which was lovely, very comfortable, clean and one of the best equipped gites we have ever stayed in. There is everything you need … More

"A wonderfully relaxing stay"
We were hoping for a relaxing week to recharge the batteries and that's exactly what we had. Jane and Neil were delightful and made all of us, especially our little son, feel welcome from the outset. They provided everything we needed for the wee one which helped remove the potential for any childcare related stress! The accommodation is simple but charming, and very well finished and equipped throughout. There are a few things to do on site - all set within the fairly large grounds and the pool is a real bonus. The only downside (if you can even call it that) is the fact that the village in which the gites are located is very quiet, with few amenities beyond the post office. That said, Aulnay-de-Saintonge is 10 minutes away and is more lively. The supermarket in Aulnay ls pretty good - wide range of food, good selection and range of wine and the local brew, pineau - and a small British section where you can get Crunchies and ginger snaps. Bless! Locationally, the gites are within striking distance of quite a few places of interest including Congac, Saint Jean D'Angely and Saintes and the coast is about an hour and half away, although we didn't venture in that direction ourselves. In fact, the gites' location allowed us the luxury of choosing whether to immerse ourselves in the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas or simply enjoy the simple pleasures of Charbonnieres - and we chose the latter.
