Providing good value for money, the Gites offer comfortable and well equipped self-catering accommodation and are perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday in the beautiful 3 Lakes area (Les Trois Lacs) of the Creuse Valley. Each of the Gites in this converted barn are comfortably furnished for four; one double bedroom and one twin with bunk beds; a good sized kitchen/diner and living area with a private deck which includes outside table and chairs overlooking the large shared garden.
Set in a very tranquil and rural area (next door to property ref. 580018 and 321121, just the Gites, the English owners who are on hand if required for information and assistance and one retired French neighbour), we are surrounded by fabulous countryside where it appears as though time has stood still, dotted with lovely French villages and towns with lots of local markets and places to explore and enjoy. The quiet roads in this area, one of the least populated of France, make any outing a pleasure.
The perfect place for walking, cycling, fishing, wildlife watching, photography, painting, reading, playing games ..... or just sitting, !
As this is such a rural location we also benefit from no light pollution, providing fabulous night skies.
Walk routes, maps and guided walks can be available, please ask for information at time of booking.
Bed linen is included in the price (except for travel cot where linen is not provided) but we are unable to offer Towels.
High chair and travel cot can be available on request at time of booking.

A €100 damage/security deposit will be required on arrival. This will be returned to you when the gite has been checked prior to departure.
The Local Taxe De Sejour (Temporary Residence Tax) is 20 cents per night for each person over the age of 16 (children under the age of 16 are exempt). For example: A family of four with two children aged under 16 would pay a total of €2.80 per week, which can be paid at the end of your stay using any loose change you have left.

About this location
The Limousin region
The Creuse covers about 5,565 km² with a population of less than 130,000. (Covering roughly 1,000 km² more than the whole of Lancashire and South Yorkshire combined, which have a population of more than 2.5 million!) This makes it one of the least populated departments in the whole of France and definitely one of the most enjoyable to explore, with glorious rolling countryside; quiet roads; many beautiful lakes, rivers and historic towns, villages and sites to see.
The climate means that shorts and tee shirts are the order of the day from mid-May on, and it is not unusual to witness a Mediterranean-type climate until quite late in the year. It does rain (how else to keep the landscape so wonderfully green?), but when it comes it is usually gentle – just like everything else.
Access to La Creuse is easy and we can be reached within a day using a network of good roads leading from the ports of Calais, Caen, Cherbourg or St Malo, alternatively the Airport of Limoges is only one hour away if you want to fly-drive (a car really is essential to fully appreciate the area). We are situated approximately 25 minutes from the main A20 motorway South (we can also provide a 'stop-over' service for those travelling further South or property hunting.)
Le Montinazeau can be found in the North of La Creuse in an area known as Les Trois Lacs (The Three Lakes) the nearest of which is just 15 minutes away and boasts a man-made beach with safe swimming, boating, a small bar and cafe/restaurant, free parking and walks.
The nearest village is under 5 kilometres away and provides a grocery shop; Post Office and Bar/Restaurant. Larger towns are within 10 kilometres providing all services including Banks; Supermarkets; Restaurants; weekly Markets etc.
There are many areas of interest all within 30 minutes of the Gites including (but certainly not limited to) the castle at Crozant, overlooking the valley where the Sedelle and the Creuse Rivers meet; Fresseline, where Monet and other artists came to paint; The Pilgrims Way (Le Chemin de St. Jaques de Compostelle), where it follows the beautiful Sedelle River; La Souterraine with it's medieval gateways and bustling market.
Only slightly further afield is Gueret where you can find the Wolf sanctuary; the Giant Labyrinth; the famous Monts de Gueret (with miles of beautiful walks and cycling routes); Limoges (famous for its porcelain and the birthplace of Renoir); Aubusson (designated Unesco site with its tapestries); Argenton-sur-Creuse (beautiful medieval town on the river with famous historic Roman site 'Argentomagus'); Le Haute Touche (animal reserve with over 1,000 animals from all five continents in a natural environment covering over 1,000 acres).
After a busy(!) day exploring, walking, swimming, sitting... you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the garden at Le Montinazeau and watch out for the local wildlife to be seen which in the last year has included; Deer; Red Squirrel; Stone Marten; Black Kites; Buzzards; Hobby's; Woodpeckers (Green, Greater Spotted and even Black!).
If you would like any further information about the area, places to visit or things to do, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to help.

This was my first visit to France in 29 years and I was not disappointed! Travelling to and arriving at the Gites I was amazed at the beauty rural France has to offer. The first thing that struck me was the total peace and quiet, beautiful green landscape and the sound of the birds as we arrived!
The Gite we stayed in was beautifully presented and homely with absolutely everything you need already there to hand, which is refreshing as so many times we have stayed in self catering homes to find essential things missing! At the back of the Gite is a private decking area which leads onto the shared garden which is huge and tranquil and full of birds. We were even treated to seeing a Merlin land on our decking for a feed!
The bedrooms are lovely and cosy and after all the fresh country air I slept like a log!
The owners Andrew and Debbie are the perfect hosts, really friendly and welcoming and gave us some brilliant advice on the local amenities and walks to go on.
I couldn't recommend this property highly enough, it was perfect for our holiday with the extended family with the 3 Gites next to each other.
Thank you Andrew and Debbie - we will definitely be returning!
We are delighted you had such an enjoyable stay with your family here. We would be very happy to welcome you back at any time. Thank you.
