BookThe Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
The Poitou-Charentes region has a magnificent coastline - and is one of the finest destinations for countryside holidays. The region's reputation is closely linked to cognac – the superb, refined, locally-produced spirit. Poitou-Charentes is a land of tradition, where skills are passed on from generation to generation.
The department of the Deux Sèvres is part of the Poitou-Charente region in western France and is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Quiet roads will lead you to unexpected places; rivers, lakes, forests, historic towns, small villages with colourful markets and, during the summer months, a range of festivals and events
Known as one of France's 'Best Kept Secrets' the Deux Sèvres is the tranquil, laid-back, unspoilt department of the Poitou-Charente, the second sunniest region in France. It is filled with lazy winding rivers and is a region truly dedicated to relaxing, restful holidays in beautiful accommodation.
The Chef Boutonne area
CHEF BOUTONNE is approx 4km away with its fairytale chateau and 'Lavoirs' (ancient wash houses) which bubble with ice cold spring water, has a bustling market with stalls of freshly caught fish and local produce.
The regional speciality, Pineau de Charente, a delicious aperitif is served in pavement cafes in the town square. Fishing permits can easily be obtained for a days fishing at CHEF BOUTONNE in the well stocked Chateau lake.
Or maybe travel slightly further afield and visit one of the many following attractions in the area:
Futuroscope (69.79 km)
Futuroscope is a Theme Park situated in Poitiers in the Poitou-Charente - Western France. It is one of Frances most visited attractions.
Les Géants du Ciel - Display of large birds of prey (75.04 km)
Located 23 km E of Poitiers at Chauvigny. 'Les Géants du Ciel' is a display of large birds which are flown
from the Castle at Chauvigny. This medieval fortress and old, walled town are a 'must' to visit.
