The West Country / Somerset region

Nestling at the foot of The Mendip Hills in the heart of Somerset, Draycott is an ideal base for most types of holidays. Whether you are looking for a walking, adventure or sightseeing type of holiday, or planning just to relax, the area abounds with plenty to see and plenty to do.

Cheddar / Draycott area

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Mendip Hills offer great walks and are right on the doorstep. Nearby Cheddar has been a popular tourist destination for many years with its famous caves, gorge and Jacobs Ladder. Just four miles away is the medieval town of Axbridge, with its historic King Johns Hunting Lodge and 15th C Church of St Johns. The cathedral city of Wells is 15 minutes away and Glastonbury and Street both a similar distance. Slightly further a field but both within easy travelling distance are Bristol and Bath and the seaside towns of Weston Super Mare and Burnham On Sea are both only twelve miles away. Draycott is a great base from which to explore the Somerset and North Somerset area.

For cosy (and romantic) winter evenings in, a woodburning stove has just been installed for the added comfort of our guests. In the dining area there is a contemporary white dining table with four matching chairs as well as extra fold away chairs for visiting guests. A high chair can be provided on request.

The kitchen has recently been refitted and now benefits from a cooker, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge / freezer. The cottage also has the added advantage of a utility room (approached from the outside) which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer.

Upstairs, the bathroom has a bath with shower over, wash hand basin and close coupled WC.

The main double bedroom has a front aspect with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. It is fitted with white shaker style furniture, and has stripped floors and a double bed. There is also a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and two bedside cabinets to provide you with plenty of storage for your stay.

Both the master bedroom and the twin bedded room can accommodate an additional child’s (inflatable) bed or travel cot, both of which can be provided if required. We can also provide a full height inflatable single bed for the second bedroom for occasional overnight (adult) guests. There is plenty of storage in the second bedroom with a wardrobe and bedside cabinets. Both bedrooms have portable CD players.

Further details outdoors:
Outside there is a small, fully enclosed and sunny south facing garden. A terrace immediately outside the patio doors provides a private seating area with patio furniture, and there is a small level, lawned area. Steps lead down to the outside laundry room which is attached to the cottage.

There is private off road parking for one car but further on-street parking spaces for visitors can be found nearby.
