Cathay House comprises sitting room with fireplace and sofabed sleeping an extra two occasional guests if required, separate dining room to seat 6 / 8 people, fully equipped kitchen, and a extra bonus of a private front veranda with a sofa for two, stereo and TV. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, (double, twin and bunk beds), an en-suite shower room to the master bedroom and a separate bathroom.

Nestling at the foot of The Mendip Hills in the heart of Somerset, Cheddar is an ideal base for most types of holidays. Whether you are looking for a walking, adventure or sightseeing type of holiday, or planning just to relax, the area abounds with plenty to see and plenty to do.
The Cheddar area
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Mendip Hills offer great walks and are right on the doorstep. Cheddar has been a popular tourist destination for many years with its famous caves, gorge and Jacobs Ladder. Nearby, the medieval town of Axbridge has the historic King Johns Hunting Lodge and 15th C Church of St Johns. The cathedral city of Wells is 15 minutes away and Glastonbury and Street both a similar distance. Slightly further a field but both within easy travelling distance are Bristol and Bath and the seaside towns of Weston Super Mare and Burnham On Sea are both only twelve miles away. Axbridge is a great base from which to explore the Somerset and North Somerset area.

We are happy to accommodate short breaks during Mid or Low season. Long Weekends (Friday to Monday) or Mid Week breaks (Monday to Friday) are priced at two thirds of the weekly rate.
