About the home

During the winter this lovely alpine chalet is a fully catered luxury ski chalet. During the summer months (May - September) the chalet can be booked by room on a B&B, half board basis or self catered; we also run fully catered guided walking holidays.
Chalet des Arbres really is a beautiful traditional alpine chalet and ideal for families, individuals or groups. The comfortable and homely living area, with its raised open fire and comfy sofas, is the ideal place to relax and wind down after a day’s activities. Alternatively, you can step through the large French doors and enjoy the beautiful views from the balcony and terrace. In the dining area there is a refectory style table. The 5 bedrooms are decorated in traditional style with en suite or private bathrooms.

After an active day in the mountain air where better to recharge and rejuvenate than in the Sauna and Hot Tub which are available to use all year round.

There are 2 family bedrooms with balconies both with en suite or private bathrooms. 2 twin room and 1 double both with en suite. Hairdryers and bathrobes are provided for your comfort. In winter we also provide toiletries, bath robes, hairdryers and slippers as the chalet is a shoe free zone. The chalet is non smoking.

There is plenty of off road parking. The sauna and hot tub are located on the decking to the rear of the chalet.

In the winter the whole chalet is available on a fully catered basis and in the summer is self catered, bed and breakfast or half board.

Any reservations will be held for a couple of days whilst a booking form is completed and sent along with a 15% deposit

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

Chalet des Arbres is perfectly located in the picturesque resort of Chatel which lies in the Abondance valley. Chatel has been unspoiled by commercialism and has retained its charm as a typical Savoyard farming village. Chatel is one of the 12 resorts which make up the Portes Du Soleil, which includes Morzine, Avoriaz and the Swiss resorts of Morgins and Champery. Close by are the towns of Thonon, Evian, Annecy, Montreux and Geneva.

The Chatel area

The chalet nestles snugly on the side of the mountain with spectacular views in both directions along the valley. It is approx 800 metres to the centre of Chatel village where you will find the Super Chatel ski lift and the many excellent bars and restaurants.
Mountain biking
There are over 24 lifts open in the summer giving access to 580km of marked cycle tracks in the Portes Du Soleil, this really is prime mountain biking country. There are 9 downhill tracks, and trial and biker cross circuits. For novice off road cyclists there are many great tracks to build your confidence and all mountain bikes can be hired locally.
Walking
There are more than 65km of footpaths in and around Chatel and over 300km of well marked trekking routes in the Portes Du Soleil. From a ramble around the Lac de Vonnes, a themed trail on the Morclan or a visit to the Chatel meadows tasting local farm produce along the way there is something to suit everyone.

White water rafting is done on the river Dranse. A team of well organised and professional instructors will ensure that you have a safe but thrilling day out. While you are here you can also try canyoning, white water swimming, canoeing and paragliding.
