One bedroom apartment in Le Yeti Residence, Chatel, in the Portes du Soleil.

Situated in Petit Chatel, which is the sunniest and quietest part of Chatel, close to the Barbossine ski lift and close to free shuttle buses around the resort, this one bedroom apartment has a double bedroom, bunk beds, living room with kitchenette and dining table, balcony, bathroom with shower/bath, separate WC, electric radiator heating, ski locker, and private parking.

The apartment is located on the second floor and there is a lift and stairs for access. The apartment faces due East for morning sunshine, and cooler summer afternoons, with views over towards Super Chatel.

Chatel is the most Swiss of the French Alps ski resorts, being minutes from Switzerland, and is pretty in a way that many of the other purpose built resorts are not.

It is also close to Geneva Airport, and has the huge advantage of being connected to the largest ski region in Europe, the Portes du Soleil. It is possible to ski on over 650kms of pistes between various French and Swiss ski resorts including Morzine, Les Gets, Champery, Morgins, and Avoriaz..

In the village you will find everything you need:-

Doctors, chemist, infirmary, masseurs-physiotherapists, dentists, optician, banks, taxis, garages, petrol station, car hire, linen hire, TV hire, food shops, sports shops, clothes shops, craft shops, gift shops, souvenir shops, 2 cinemas, bowling, French ski school, British ski school.

For the easy way to get around Chatel, hop on the free buses that run regularly through the village (and stopping close to the flat), serving the various piste access points. The service also runs in the evening.

In Summer you can relax in the fresh mountain air or partake in some of the many activities that are available in the area such as walking, climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hydrospeed and white water rafting, canyoning, canoeing, fishing, swimming in one of the three pools in Chatel, archery, tennis, French bowls, golf, mini-golf, rollerblading, trampolining, bobsled, 'devalkart' (gravity karting or Devil Karting) and 'Fantasticable' (a unique cable ride between two mountain peaks).

The beautiful scenery makes the entire area is a haven for walkers and mountain bikers. With over 200km of marked paths covering forests and high pastures, and more than 50 peaks to climb in a region stretching from Lake Geneva to Mt Blanc you will not be short of new places to visit. Maps of the local footpaths are available from the Tourist Office. They also have a list of qualified guides able to help you explore the spectacular mountains and see the best of the local wildlife.

Chatel is also a great touring location being just 5 minutes from the Swiss border - from there you can descend to the Valais, and explore the amazing resorts such as Zermatt and Saas Fee for a day trip. Also possible for the day is a trip through the Grand St Bernard tunnel to the Aosta valley in Italy.

Lake Geneva is very accessible either at Evian, Thonon and Yvoire in France or Montreux, Vevey and Lausanne in Switzerland.

A self catered apartment of 28m2 which sleeps 2-6 people and comprises:

Lounge

The Lounge has an east facing balcony, which catches the early-morning sunshine and looks out towards the pistes at Super Chatel.

In the brand new (October 2015) kitchen area there is a dishwasher, sink, numerous cupboards, two hot plates, a fridge, a combi oven / microwave / grill, kettle, toaster, fondue set, cafetiere. There is an iron and ironing board.

There are a table and six chairs, a sofabed, footstool, more cupboards and drawers, with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils. For entertainment there is a new LED 32" TV, DVD player, hi-fi set with radio, MP3, iPhone and iPod dock, and CD player, maps and books, CDs, and DVDs in English and French. Free 4G wifi.

Bedroom One

Contains a double bed, wardrobe, extra hooks, two bedside lights, an alcove for storing suitcases, plus phone charging sockets.

Hall/Bedroom Two

This contains two bunk beds. A useful large storage area. Storage boxes below the bunks. Phone charging point and bedside light to each bunk.

Bathroom

Has a full size bath and powerful shower with a pull-out airer for wet towels, salopettes etc. Separate WC.

The apartment will sleep 6, but is best for 4 or 5.

There is a reserved open-air parking space and a ski-locker on the same level as the car.

Sheets/duvet covers/pillow cases or sleeping bag(s) and towels and tea towels. Linen hire can be arranged at extra cost.

Further details outdoors

Secure private parking is available, plus a ski locker for storing skis and snowboards at car park level.

A lift and stairs take you up to the apartment on the second floor of the residence.

Adjacent to the building is the footpath (open in spring, summer and autumn) that leads up to Barbossine and from there to the Swiss border, and incredible views over the Valais to the Vaudoise and Valaisanne alps.

A short distance from the apartment is the shuttle bus stop giving free rides all around the resort and between the different ski areas.

Also a short distance from the apartment is the Barbossine chairlift leading to the Braitaz and Super Chatel ski areas, and connecting to the Swiss ski resorts of Torgon and Morgins, the French resort of La Chapelle d'Abondance, and further afield to the entire Portes du Soleil region via the new (2015) liaison between Super Chatel and Linga.

Shops and restaurants in the centre of Chatel are open year round (a big advantage over a smaller resort) and a bakery in Petit Chatel is open in the winter and summer seasons, as well as ski hire shops, tabac presse and restaurants, and all year round laundrette.

The Rhône-Alpes region

The French Alps is a glorious area with something for everyone in all four seasons.

In winter, the weather is often stable with bright blue skies, crisp snow, and some of the best skiing conditions in the world. In addition, the local foods (Tartiflette, Fondue etc) are warming and delicious in the dozens of restaurants up high and in the resorts.

The Portes du Soleil has over 650kms of pistes interlinked making it the largest ski region in Europe - no two days need be the same with such a choice of places to go to.

In spring, summer and autumn, the character of this Alpine area changes - the animals come out of the barns, the area becomes quieter, and yet there is still a multitude of activities such as white water rafting, mountain walking and biking, swimming and tennis, summer luge and Fantasticable, horse riding, golf and mini golf, canyoning and fishing.

Lake Geneva is less than 30 minutes away, with trips across the lake to Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux, while the Valais is just across the border from Chatel at Morgins, with access to other world renowned winter and summer resorts such as Verbier, Crans-Montana, Zermatt and Saas Fee.

Chatel

Chatel is the most Swiss of the French mountain resorts, with beautiful mountain chalets and farms typical of the Abondance valley.

It is as lively as you want it to be - in the village are all the amenities one could wish for, including banks, restaurants, Intermarche supermarket, swimming pools, tennis courts, mountain bike and walking trails, winter ski lifts, summer chair lifts, nightclubs, bars, doctors and dentists, cinemas, bowling, free shuttle buses and all kinds of gift and sports shops.

However the apartment is located in Petit Chatel, 1.5kms outside the centre and a quick free bus ride into the centre. Petit Chatel is the sunniest part of Chatel - much of the resort becomes shaded in the winter afternoons, but the sun carries on all day in Petit Chatel which is a bonus. It is also quieter and very easy to park in Petit Chatel.

Chatel is a ski and summer resort on the up, with, in 2014, two major new developments.

The first is the brand new indoor and outdoor swimming pool. La Forme d'O is a superb new development with three pools, hammams, saunas, etc. and is located in the centre of town.

The second is the new liaison between Super Chatel and Linga, which has been awaited for three decades. It now means you can ski from near the apartment from the Petit Chatel lift (where there is free parking), and ski all the way to Avoriaz and back if you want. It really is a fantastic new development and transforms the resort.

"A superbly positioned apartment for some fantastic skiing"

We had a brief 4 day skiing holiday in Chatel staying in this superbly positioned apartment. Its great for the pistes at Super Chatel and Barbossine and a 5 minute drive to Pre La Joux. Barbossine is easily walkable. The apartment has all you need - endless hot water, dedicated parking, great views etc. I'd recommend it and will return.

"Easy and Convenient"

I visited the apartment with two girlfriends on a ski mini break. The view and location is beautiful and it was so convenient to hop on and off buses to the slopes. Perfect to come back to after a hard day skiing!

"Great Apartment"

I stayed in this lovely apartment for a few days during the October half-term. It is spotlessly clean, well maintained and has all the amenities needed after a days exploring or skiing. It is in a wonderful location and the balcony boasts fantastic views.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property. All in all, a very enjoyable few days!

"Lovely apartment"

I stayed in this apartment with my husband and 2 children aged 11 and 7 for a few days during half-term. It is in an ideal location next to a mountain stream. The facilities are great and there is everything you could need after a hard days walking or skiing.
