Bedrooms are all extremely spacious which is rare for Alpine accommodation. 1. Super King double with large balcony. Huge piste view en suite shower and bath where you can luxuriate with a glass of champagne and watch the last skiers of the day descend Cret Beni. 2. King size double plus single, private seating area and balcony. En suite with extra large bath and shower over. 3. Twin room with en suite bath with shower over. 4. Family room with one double and two sets of bunk beds and private luxury shower/wet room. 5. Family room with twin beds, one set of bunk beds plus a day bed. Private bathroom.

The Abondance Valley offers varied skiing with links into Switzerland and access to infamous ski runs such as The Wall. The Portes du Soleil has an excellent snow record. The village of Chapelle D'Abondance has the advantage of retaining its very traditional rustic charm. Within easy walking distance of the Penthouse there is a micro brewery, several excellent restaurants, a boulangerie and patisserie as well as a small pizza take away.

There are several local events all year round. Look up the Chapelle D'Abondance or Chatel local websites for up to date details.

As well as downhill skiing there are cross country trails, snow shoeing, dog sled and sleigh rides. Torch light descents, skidoo rides and local spa and beauty facilities.

In the summer months mountain biking, hill walking and climbing are the most popular pursuits. Other activities include white water rafting, cannyoning and the Fantasticable.

"We had a very comfortable stay at Penthouse Caribou. Excellent! *****"

We had a great time staying at Penthouse Caribou. Excellent location at Les Chapel Abundance surrounded by mountains. Amazing view from the terrace, living room and bedrooms. Chalet is very well equipped and has large bed rooms, bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. Elevator to Penthouse helps bring up the baggage. Music system with wide choice of music. Fast Wi-Fi too. Friendly host-owner. Highly recommend this place for nature lovers!

"Amazing apartment and location; helpful owner; a couple of minor issues only"

We stayed as a large group of 11 people in this huge penthouse for a week. The internal space is massive and the bedrooms also large. Location is superb - right by Cret Beni ski area and next to a bus stop for easy access to other ski areas. The owner was very helpful both before and during the visit, pointing us towards equipment hire and advising on ski passes. Overall I was very happy with the place and our stay. However, it's worth mentioning three minor issues that stopped a 5-star rating. All three are easily fixable, and none are deal breakers, to put them in context: - Mattresses in our bedroom (left from front door) were not great; they seemed very soft and old. Although mattress hardness is a subjective issue, they felt tired and slightly worn out. Also, the 'double bed' was 2x singles pushed together which meant a significant gap between the two - There were only 3x sets of keys for an apartment that sleeps 16 people, and only 2x of those sets had a key for access to the ski boot room. This meant our group had to faff around a lot planning keyholding each day, which was annoying. Not the end of the world but one set of keys per double bedroom at least should be provided - There was a surprisingly long list of check-out requirements, including stripping the beds. Of course, guests should leave the place in good condition, but for c.£3500 per week you would expect to leave it as you would leave a hotel room, and for professional cleaners to come in for a few hours to strip beds, put out rubbish etc. As I said, minor stuff in the grand scheme of things but worth mentioning. Overall very happy.

"Excellent short break!!"

This was my third visit to Penthouse Caribou, fabulous place to stay. Excellent views of Cret Beni from the balcony, great way to relax after a hard days skiing!! The apartment has all you need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. Easy walking distance to bakery for fresh croissants in the morning and great choice of restaurants!!! Thanks for a great short break!!

"Outstanding venue"

Penthouse Caribou is an excellent venue for a group of friends on a skiing holiday. A short walk to the nearest slopes at Cret Beni. The apartment is large, comfortable and homely. The position is idyllic looking up at the mountains. We look forward to returning!

"Wonderfully luxurious stay in a glamorous and cosy chalet! Very happy indeed"

We travelled as a large group of friends (so a full house) and the chalet still felt spacious and roomy. Celebrated JanuaryFest in style- the chalet is absolutely perfect for a gathering given all the space available and the entertainment systems available (TV/DVD/music). Had a fabulous time on the local pistes, made good use of the links to the rest of the Portes du Soleil and frequented the truly excellent local patisseries! I'd recommend the place any day of the week!

"Great and spacious accommodation in a very good location with beautiful scenery."

Penthouse Caribou is situated in a lovely village with a decent number of very nice restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The Penthouse itself was not what I was expecting but in a good way - it is much larger than I expected with the centrepiece being a huge fireplace. It is an excellent place for families, mixed age groups or friends as there are lots of different areas including TV room, pool and TV area, large dining table and a sitting area with comfy sofas. All the bedrooms are of a good size with excellent bathroom facilities. The property is immaculately maintained and very well presented. The views onto the ski slopes are really lovely. I liked it all and was very sad to leave.

"Great Location, Nice Friendly Resort, Highly Recommended"

We arrived to a warm welcome. The accommodation was excellent with several communal areas which would suit either families or friends. I would highly recommend, being close to the village and a few minutes from Ski Lift and several good restaurants and a small supermarket close by. We would definitely visit the Penthouse Caribou again

"Return visit to fantastic accommodation in brilliant skiing area"

Amazing place to stay, so much thought and care has been taken to equip this spacious accommodation to a high standard. Kitchen and bathrooms are excellent, and the bedrooms and multiple living areas are wonderful. Well situated in the village for swift access to the bakery, ski bus stop, and other shops and hotels.

"A unique and one off Ski Apartment"

When you initially walk in you don't appreciate the scale and size of the apartment - it is huge! When our group arrived , we must have spent 1/2 hour each exploring the place. We found it very comfortable, clean and warm and with 12 of us we were not cramped in at all. The boys loved the pool table on the mezzanine floor and once finished would settle down to watch a film or 2 in the evening. Others would sit in the lounge area around the fire chilling out. There is free internet access which suited all the iPad, iPhone, and laptop users - enough to go around! The 2 hot stones were great for steak on-a-stone evenings - a great social event. For those who didn't ski that much, on the sunny days the balcony was great catching the rays - one of our group even got sun burnt and this was at he beginning of March!! The apartment is really well situated for the Cret Beni slopes - 3 mins walk and we drove up to Pre La Joux rather than wait for buses - free parking and get there early to ensure a good spot and the best of the days skiing. The InterMarche is only 5 mins drive and has everything you will need. All in all, a very enjoyable break in a fantastic apartment and i am sure we will be back there in the near future.

"Spacious and comfortable - fantastic"

A huge chalet, with more bedrooms emerging at every turn. Fortunately, the shared space is ample to accomodate the number of people who can be crammed into beds without feeling cramped due to several sitting areas and a large dining table. The chalet is in the heart of chappelle, with access to decent pubs and a short walk/bus ride to the slopes. However, if hoping to ski towards AvoriazMausine would recommend car hire to avoid having to rely on the local buses.
