Chalet les Loups
About the home
Les Loups is located in the hameau of Ville du Nant, midway between the resorts of La Chapelle d’ Abondance (1.5km) and Chatel (2.5km). Quieter than in the middle of the village, but in many ways more convenient.
Close to the Intermarche supermarket for your groceries. Close to both villages for a superb choice of restaurants.
When designing Chalet Les Loups we wanted to combine the look of a traditional Savoyard Chalet with all the modern comforts and luxuries you could wish for. The Chalet was completed in the summer of 2005, and is decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard with all the amenities you could wish for from a luxury retreat.
We aim to provide everything that we can, to form the basis of your fantastic holiday. A welcome pack will greet you, consisting of provisions for your first night and breakfast, along with other essentials.
All linen and towels are provided and included in the cost. A washing machine and drier are at your disposal

Views to the Dent du Midi mountain range are spectacular, as is the sun coming up over the mountains in the morning. The sound of a small mountain stream burbling in the background adds to the relaxing tranquillity of the location.
During the Winter season the chalet is generally rented on a Saturday to Saturday basis.
Shorter periods are occasionally available - it's always worth enquiring.
During the Summer season there is far more flexibility in schedules and we are happy too take any length booking from 5 days upwards.
The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Much of the Portes du Soleil is forested and there are some wonderful long scenic runs through the trees including the famous Grande Paradis in Champery and the Tovassiere blue run from Avoriaz to Morgins. Châtel also offers easy access to Avoriaz (1800-2466m) which has an excellent snow record.
The Portes du Soleil also offers some challenging black runs including the world famous "Wall" (Chavanette) in Avoriaz and some wonderful off pistes opportunities.
Summer offers a huge variety of exciting activities for families including walking, cycling, mountain-biking, tennis, swimming, golf, sailing, waterskiing, white-water rafting, rock-climbing, paragliding, roller-blading, go-carting, horse-riding, fishing, and Lake Geneva is only a 40 minute drive away.
The Chatel / Chappelle d'Abondance area
Châtel is in the heart of the Franco-Swiss ski domain called the Portes du Soleil. The domain, one of the largest in Europe, covers 14 resorts:
8 French, including Châtel, Avoriaz, Morzine, Montriond, les Gets , St Jean d’Aulps, Abondance and la Chapelle; and 6 Swiss: Champéry, Torgon, Morgins and les Crosets Val d’Illiez, Champoussin.
In all it has over 400 miles of ski slopes, well-served by 208 ski-lifts all accessible using a single, inclusive card.
The Châtel ski domain itself offers a wide range of magnificent opportunities for skiing, both for those who come for scenery on the mountain and those looking for that ultimate experience on the slopes!
Châtel consists of two main sectors: Barbossine / Super-Châtel and Linga / Pré-la-Joux, lying between 1100m and 2200m (3600 ft and 7200 ft).
The Châtel ski domain has 49 ski slopes : 5 black, 16 red, 14 blue and 14 green with a total length of 83 km (53 miles).

Fly / Rent Car
There are several options available, with regular flights from most UK and European cities to Geneva. British Airways, Easyjet and Flybe are the most popular carriers. We recommend Easyjet for some amazing fares and plenty of choice of flights. Tip; Book as far in advance as possible for the best fares.
Car rental is readily available from either the French side or the Swiss side of the airport (Yes the airport really does straddle the border !) It is best to pre-book from the UK. After many arguments with various companies as to what "All Inclusive" means we now solely recommend Rhino Car Hire. Rhino are genuinely "All Inclusive" and that means no extra charge for the compulsory Winterisation Pack. We recommend to rent from the Swiss side, it is more convenient, in winter all cars will have snow tyres and the cars should all have a Swiss motorway permit on them.
Chalet les Loups is approximately 1hr 20mins from the airport.
The ferry crossing from Dover to Calais takes about 1 1/2 hours, whilst Dover to Dunkirk takes about 2 hours. The main operator on the Dover/Calais route is P&O Ferries. The cheaper alternative is the slightly longer Dunkirk route with Norfolkline. Whilst Norfolkline are principally a freight operator we find that their service and prices are excellent, although they have considerably fewer crossings.
Eurotunnel is quicker, less susceptible to weather and industrial action but more expensive....and you have to sit in the car for the duration. This is not my preferred option when I know I'm going to be sitting there for the next 8hrs+ however we are all different !
The journey through France is relatively easy and it is quite possible to do in one shot just stopping for fuel on the way. The roads are a joy after the busy UK roads as long as you avoid peak times on peak days. The journey should take about 8hrs 30mins.
