Le Torrent apartment is within a beautifully maintained residential chalet enjoying lovely views & in a superb location within easy access of the village. The comfortable sitting room opens onto a private terrace which in summer is boardered by roses. The double bedroom and second bedroom are of a good size and both rooms have built- in wardrobes. The kitchen is fully equipped with access through to the dining area. There is a private underground car park. Chateau-d'Oex is a quite, friendly village which has retained it's delightful Swiss character. It is the perfect destination for all those seeking peace and relaxation through sport, nature or culture.
The Chateau-d'Oex cable car is just a short walk away from the apartment and the other resorts in the Gstaad valley can be reached by train in 15mins. A car is not necessary to enjoy skiing in Chateau-d'Oex/Gstaad region, but it is helpful if one wishes to explore other ski areas such as Chamonix, which is 1hr 25mins away by car (105.9km) and resorts such as Verbier, Crans Montana, Les Diablerets, Leysin, Villars and Lenk are closer.
The apartment is a wonderful base for both summer and winter activities. In summer the pretty terrace is perfect for relaxing.

The Swiss Alps / Vaud/Lake Geneva/Swiss Alps region
Château-d'Oex presents a diverse range of holiday experiences and sporting activities & is situated half-way between the resort of Gstaad in the Bernese Oberland and the small town of Gruyères in the canton of Fribourg. Thanks to its favourable micro-climate, Château-d'Oex has developed into a hot-air ballooning metropolis. Passenger flights are available throughout the year and an international competition in hot-air ballooning is held every January. Older traditions too have been retained: the much-loved Alpine cheese of Etivaz is still made over an open wood fire. In Rougemont, 10mins away, many chalets dating back a hundred years bear testimony to the folk art of the region. Distinguished by the «Families Welcome» quality mark, children too are fully catered for in the Pays-d'Enhaut. It allows the entire family to give themselves up to an adventurous treasure hunt. The themed trail about the life of ants on La Braye and a visit to the mineral and fossil collection in Rougemont are also highly enjoyable.
Chateau-d'Oex area
Chateau -d'Oex is a delightful, relaxed, family friendly Swiss village with a selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, ski rental shops, banks, cinema, tourist office and a hospital with 24hour care. There are wonderful facilities for children, which include a playground with aerial slide, a bowling alley, football pitch, ice rink (tennis courts in the summer) and outdoor swimming pool. Chateau -d'Oex is famous for its annual balloon festival and the fact that the actor David Niven made Chateau- d'Oex his home.
Gstaad hosts the Swiss Open Tennis Tournament, the Cartier Polo as well as the Menuhin Music Festival which is held in various venues in the Gstaad valley. The Montreaux Jazz Festival is also extremely popular.
Summer: A beautiful pre-Alpine walking area lies south of Château-d'Oex: La Pierreuse, the largest nature conservation area in western Switzerland contains rock areas, forests, abundant flora and flat moors. For both leading bikers and amateurs, the Pays-d'Enhaut offers a large network of marked mountain biking trails along the tracks of the 1997 world championships. A section of the 2009 Tour de France went through the region, You can also indulge in white-water sports on the fast-flowing river Saane: canyoning, hydrospeed, canoeing /kayaking and river rafting. One of Switzerland’s most beautiful river rafting routes lies between the wild Vanel and Gérignoz gorges.
Activities include: Mountain biking, cycling, swimming, tennis, bowling, horse riding, golf (Gstaad), white water rafting, canoeing, 'wellness' centres.
Winter: Chateau-d'Oex is a small ski resort with well maintained slopes accessed by a cable car from the village.The slopes are on a high plateau above Chateau-d'Oex and provide 12km of easy slopes, 5km of medium slopes and 6km of difficult slopes. There is a delightful beginners slope in the village with a little cafe and 'baby' lift providing the perfect start to skiing. The instructors are friendly and particularly good with children. There are 60 lifts in the Alpes Vaudoise region and 130 in the Super Ski region. The ski pass covers the Gstaad Super-ski area (Covering 250km) which include the ski areas of Rougemont, Saanen, Gstaad (Eggli), Schonried and Saanenmoser, all accessible by train from Chateau-d'Oex. The ski lift pass includes free train travel to these ski areas. The lifts and slopes are well maintained and there are 'ski gardens' for children.There are also 37miles of snow shoe trails which enable visitors to enjoy the spectacular, unspoilt scenery around Chateau-d'Oex and its neighbouring village of Rougmont.There is also a glacier at Les Diablerets.

Further details indoors: This ground floor apartment has a sitting room with open fire, a luxury in the winter after a hard day on the slopes! There is a well appointed kitchen which boasts a large fridge freezer, microwave, coffee machine and fondue set.
There are two bedrooms; a double room and a bunk room which can sleep three with pull out bed. Both bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes. The entrance hall also has storage space.
The marble bathroom has a shower. There is a ski room, laundry room and underground car parking which is approached by a heated drive!
The property is fully equipped and includes a flat screen TV (cable channels showing some English programs) & DVD player.
A high chair and push chair are available on request. The agent should be able to locate a cot if required.
Further details outdoors: During the summer the chalet has window boxes full of flowering geraniums and the secluded terrace has a boarder of beautiful pink roses. On the terrace there is an outside dining table and chairs as well as sun loungers. The apartment is in a well maintained chalet with beautifully kept gardens.

Enquiries and bookings are through the website with payment to be made in Swiss francs to the agent who is English/French speaking. For late bookings it is possible to make the payment directly to us. The agent will oversee your rental, can arrange a starter pack on request and will generally look after you.
Please note that there is a charge ( depending on what is used ) for linen, towels and tea towels at the end of your stay. However, if you travel by car you might prefer to bring your own.
There is a cleaning fee of 117chf on departure.
If the apartment is available a reservation can be placed for 48hrs while travel arrangements are made.
