The pool has underwater lighting and as the evening draws in you can sit and eat dinner on the deck as the pool entices you for a late night dip. The pool has an alarm which conforms to french security requirements.
The garden overlooks gently rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling. There are mountain bikes for your use.There is a brick BBQ so you can cook outside and eat by the pool or under the shade of the magnificent walnut tree.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vienne region
The second sunniest region of France after the South. The area offers long hot summers with mild spring and autumn with a short cold winter. The area is steeped in Roman history. When crossing the river Charente from the cottage on the way to Chatain you will be using a Roman bridge.
Chatain area
Charroux is just a short drive from the house. It boasts a local market ,shops, bank , post office, bars and restaurants. Charroux was an important town on the pilgrimage route to Spain and the ruined abbey in the centre of the town has the only round tower in western Europe. The town, or village as we would call it, has lots of events throughout the summer from horse racing to art exhibitions to a wine festival in early September. There are tennis courts which are free to use.
How to get there
Airports at Poitiers, Limoges, la Rochelle, Bordeaux and a new service to Angoulème. Within easy reach of the property and served by low cost airlines. Ferries from Poole, Portsmouth and Plymouth to Cherbourg, Le Harve, Caan and St Malo. Also the channel tunnel is available.

Further details outdoors: Loungers for the pool and gardens also dining table/chairs for the decking and shaded areas. Plenty of outdoor games for the children , trapeze, rope swing, swingball badminton etc. Lots of space for football/cricket or just mess about in the pool. The gardens are south facing and enjoy long days with sunsets as late as 10pm in the high summer
Further details
Local French caretaker will clean the cottage before arrival, we also have a British local resident who looks after the pool.
Please take your own bed linen and towels however these can be provided at small extra cost if travel arrangements make this difficult.

August 2009 We had a great time the boys were in the pool all day every day. The house and gardens were great also the surrounding countryside. Very peaceful and relaxing.
