Chassignolles cottage comfortably accomodates 7 people with room for an infant in the cot provided. This stone built typically Auvergnat cottage has lots of charm & is well equipped for a family holiday.
At Chassignolles village there are local deliveries of bread, Auvergnat cheeses, vegetables & charcuterie regular throughout the week, so please don’t be alarmed if you hear the sound of a delivery horn blasting through the tranquillity of the village.
Within eye shot is the well conserved 12th century village church (which you hear chiming every hour) and within walking distance are a tennis court and football field.

Opposite the Church on the village square is the renowned Auberge de Chassignolles, which is the heart of the village during the summer months.

The cottage itself has 3 double bedrooms (comfortably accommodating 7 people), one with another single day bed. A travel cot is available too. The equipped bathroom has a bath & separate shower cubicle. Downstairs there is a large sitting room, a breakfast room, a dining room, another toilet & a kitchen.
Bicycles are available and the cottage also has a large TV monitor (no channels), with a dvd/ video player.
This simplistic little village is an ideal retreat to recuperate & relax within the rustic surroundings of the village & the cottage itself.

Outside is a completely enclosed rear courtyard garden, which is not overlooked at all, as well as a grassed garden to the side which can be secured for childeren.
Within a sheltered outside space there is a simple childerens swing, a work table with water & electricity, for the intention of an outside food preparation area.
There is space for off road parking for 2 to 3 cars through the large wooden gates.
A Barbeque is available & there are also vegitables, tomatoes & herbs growing in season for your use.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Haute-Loire region
In the summer months the days are long hot & lazy. During the winter period, snow is guaranteed, nearly always at Christmas too. There are many walks & cycle routes to be explored in these peaceful & tranquil surroundings. Mushroom picking, horse riding, cycling, swimming, canoeing & bird watching are just some of the many activities that local residents like to indulge in. Close by are lakes to be fished, swam in & picnicked at, the closest being Champagnac le Vieux which is only 5 miniutes away by car. The air is always clean & unpolluted here at Chassignolles & the surroundings are peaceful.
The Chassignolles area
Local towns/ villages of interest are: Le Puy en Valley, la Chaise-Dieu, Brioude, St Flour, Lavaudieu, Thiers and Blesle.
If you enjoy skiing then only an hours drive away are the ski resorts of Super-Besse, Le Lelioran & Le Mont-Dore, they have surprisingly good runs & are all reasonably large.

Flights from the UK are from Southhampton direct to Clermont Ferrand (only 45 minutes drive away) with Flybe www.flybe.com (Summer months only).
Also from Stanstead (England) to Rodez (1.5 to 2 hours drive to chassignolles/ Auzon), with Ryanair www.ryanair.com (summer months only).
Or from Stansted/ Gatwick to Lyon (2.5 to 3 hours drive to Chassignolles/ Auzon) with Easyjet www.easyjet.com (All year round).
Car hire is available from the airports for the usual rates.
Eurostar (Gare de nord) is linked via the Paris metro to Gare de Lyon, where trains run hourly to Clermont Ferrand & then onto Brassac les Mines, or Brioude, where one of us can meet you with prior notice.
Driving to Chassignolles/ Auzon takes 7 to 9 hours from Calais or Boulougne, through various countryside & towns bypassing Paris, or 6 to 8 hours from Normandy via similar routes.
