The Kent region

Kent is known as the Garden of England for very good reason. The countryside is beatiful and the climate is milder than many other parts of the UK. Visiting other parts of the South of Englansd could not be simpler from Canterbury.

Two good motorways, The M2 and M20 are just a few miles away. There are two main line train stations in Canterbury, with fast services to London and Ashford International, where you can board the Eurostar and cross under the Channel to Paris. There are also good bus and coach services in the area. Little Woodlands is on a bus route which travels into Canterbury and back every day. Morrisons Supermarket is less than five minutes drive and the park and ride service is also close.

Canterbury Cathedral sits in the City of Canterbury with it's narrow streets with rows of timber framed houses, historic ruins, pretty riverside walks, numerous Restaurants, Pubs, little shops, coffee houses, museums, Brand new MarloweTheatre, River Tours and nightime Ghost Tours.

It has a thriving market and at Whitefriers, a large modern shopping complex.

Golf plays a large part in attracting visitor to the are. Courses at Faversham, Canterbury, Boughton, Ashford, Etchinghill and of course Sandwich - where the 2011 Open is being played at Royal St.Georges - are all easily reached. The Canterbury Festival has grown into one of the most prestigious arts and entertainment festivals in the South, with a wide variety of shows, exhibitions, demonstrations in and around the City. You are just as likely to bump into a Hollywood star as you are a local street performer.
