Home description

Sea Lane Cottage is set in a cluster of coastguard cottages, close to the beach in the pretty seaside village of Charmouth. Beautifully finished in comfortable, modern country style, guests can enjoy the large, private garden and patio areas in the summer, and in winter, the cosy warmth of the open plan living and country kitchen areas. Or, whatever the weather, relax in the comfortable, spacious conservatory overlooking the garden.

Entry to the main cottage is via the conservatory, leading to a spacious open plan living area with exposed stone walls and an inglenook fireplace, reflecting the period style. A stunning period bathroom, features separate shower cubicle and a roll-top bath placed below a rooflight for 'tub-soaked star-gazing'. Three comfortable and cozy bedrooms include one double, one twin and one child's bedroom, while downstairs is a double sofa bed and two comfortable foldout chair beds. Luxury linen and towels are provided plus a welcome basket with fresh local provisions on arrival for guests staying 7 nights or more.

The West Country / Dorset region

Dorset is one of England's most beautiful counties, with miles of stunning coastline and rolling green countryside, peppered with charming villages and country market towns. Only 2-5 hours drive from London to the east and 40 minutes drive to Exeter in the west, it's the gateway to England's historic West Country.


Charmouth area

Charmouth lies in on Dorset's World Heritage Coastline and is famous for its fossil beach - just a five minute walk from the front gate. The pretty village is in the heart of some of the West Country's most stunning countryside, with a host of rural and coastal walks close by. Once arrived, guests need never use their car - shops, pubs and eateries, plus post office, butcher and country delicatessen are all minutes walk away.

Ten minutes drive to the east is the bustling fishing town of Bridport and West Bay, with larger shops, supermarket and a host of restaurants. To the west, just a five minute drive away is historic Lyme Regis, with its georgian seaside charm and quaint narrow streets. The historic city of Exeter is just 40 minutes drive away, with its University and Cathedral.

Charmouth is a pretty, seaside village on Dorset's Jurassic Coast - now a World Heritage centre. Sea Lane Cottage is just a few minutes walk from the famous fossil beach, plus local shops, pubs and post office. Parking is easy in the car park opposite the private, well-lit pathway leading to the secluded private garden, large patio and entrance to the cottage, via the stunning, bright and comfortable conservatory.
Charmouth is in West Dorset, close to the Devon border. It lies just off the A35, between the charming seaside town of Bridport to the east, and the Georgian seaside town of Lyme Regis to the west. The mainline railway station at Axminster, just 10 minutes away by road, offers fast train links to London and the rest of the UK, as well as on into Devon and Cornwall.

Large, private patio overlooking the spacious and well-maintained gardens, with views towards Stonebarrow cliffs; at night, the paths, patio and garden are beautifully lit for evening outdoor entertaining.

Sea Lane Cottage is a 200 year old building, therefore has some characterful features - such as some low ceilings and door frames, uneven floorboards upstairs and a narrow, slightly winding staircase with some slightly uneven steps. The bathroom is situated downstairs and the house has a single WC.


Conditions

Booking deposit required for bookings more than 8 weeks in advance. Payment in full no less than four weeks prior to arrival. Additional security/breakages deposit will be charged with balance payments, and refunded after departure.
Full payments are required on booking for late reservations made less than four weeks from arrival.
Hire charge may be applicable for cots, highchairs if required. Additional linen charges may be applied at owner's discretion/for larger parties.
Wheelchair users are welcome, but the property is not specifically adapted for the purpose. Bathroom and sofa beds are available downstairs.
Short break bookings not normally available in school holiday periods - please enquire for details.
Owners reserve the right to withdraw the property at their discretion, giving a minimum of four weeks notice before arrival date.
