The Dorset region
The West Country is well known for its outstanding beaches, beautiful countryside and mild climate. Dorset is however often overlooked in favour of its bigger more commercialised neighbours Devon and Cornwall. This trend has allowed Dorset to develop at a slower pace and retain its charm, offering the quintessential English Seaside experience.
Base yourself in the West of Dorset and you will be able to enjoy the best the county has to offer, the Stunning Jurassic Coast, Weymouth home to the Olympic Sailing, Market Towns, Sleepy Villages and the stunning Countryside made famous by Thomas Hardy. Pop over the border into Devon and follow the coast along to Exeter visiting the charming fishing villages and Victorian resorts like Sidmouth enroute.
Charmouth is a historic village with over 30 listed buildings set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Known as 'The Gateway to the Jurassic Coast' it's beach is world famous for Fossil hunting and the Heritage Coast Centre on the beach has a full programme of activities and fossil hunting walks for all ages.
The village has Tennis Courts,a Bowling Green and a safe playground surrounded by 12 acres of playing fields.
A really good selection of shops cater for all needs and include a grocers which is open untill 9pm daily.
Close by and visable across the bay is the historic town of Lyme Regis offering quirky shops, great restaurants and a sandy beach.Heading East the market town of Bridport has a weekly street market and a good selection of individual shops and restaurants.
River Cottage HQ in Axminster is also a short drive away.
For the more active there are some excellent golf courses. Both Lyme Regis and Bridport Gold Clubs are within a few minutes drive and offer spectacular scenery aswell as great golf. Fishing trips leave daily from Lyme Regis and Horse Riding in the unspoilt countryside is a delight.Probably best of all bring your walking boots and head off along the coastal path or follow the river Char inland through the meadows.

"Cosy hideaway, great location"
Lovely clean, modern, well decorated home, with wi-fi & its own parking. We loved that it was detached & tucked away yet just a few minutes walk to the beach & town. The fossil centre at the beach was interesting (I thought it would be dull, but it wasn't!) & there is a shop selling loads of fossils if you can't find any yourself. Charmouth itself has 2 pubs, a mini supermarket, fish & chip shop & bakery . The location is great, we visited Hive Beach Cafe (great foodie cafe known for its fish), West Bay otherwise known as 'Broadchurch', River Cottage Canteen in Axminster & Lyme Regis. One tiny niggle was the bathroom was cold but then we did stay during a cold weekend in Feb & anyway, how much time does one spend in the bathroom.. Have already recommended to friends.
So pleased to hear you had a good break in our cottage in Charmouth and enjoyed everything the area has to offer.
Can't explain why the bathroom was cold as there is a heated towel rail/radiator in there which works as part of the central heating system. Will be sure to check it out this week.

"Perfect for a relaxing break"
We had a lovely little holiday and stayed at the Hideaway for just 3 nights (could have stayed longer). The owner was very flexible and allowed us to arrive on the Tuesday and leave on the Friday. On arriving at the house we immediately felt at home. It is clean and furnished beautifully and has everything you need for your stay. We have a very inquisitive 1 year old and the small picket fence all the way round the front of the garden and property mean't we could relax, let him play outside and not worry about him running off. It is located within a 2 minute walk of the beach which was great for entertaining my son and it is close to Lyme Regis for days out. We went to Weymouth Sea life centre which was a 45 minute drive. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet relaxing break with the option to go to places further afield for days out.

Many thanks for your positive review.
Previous guests have had no issue with the disposal of their rubbish but I will take your comments on board regarding the inclusion of the charge into the rental rate.
Just to clarify, the nominal £10 deduction from your deposit was not just for the disposal of your rubbish but a contribution towards your breakages.
I am so pleased you enjoyed your week in our little house
