"Franks Cottage" Mayo Holiday
from £30 /night help
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Frank's Cottage is a traditionally styled cottage but modernised to make your stay comfortable and welcoming!
The sitting room is the heart of this home with wood panelled high ceilings and the wood burning stove - heated with turf from our own bog! You enter the smaller of the two bedrooms from here - with its two single beds this room still maintains the traditional feel. From the sitting room you enter the modern country kitchen with seating for 6 and a fully equipped kitchen. While having your breakfast, you can look out into the fields and watch the donkeys playing! The Double bedroom is accessed through the kitchen and this is a large room with plenty of wardrobe space and room for an extra single bed or toddler bed (upon request). The utility room connects the kitchen with both the back door and the large shower room (with electric shower). There is a washer/dryer in the utility room as well as cleaning supplies.
Heating is provided through oil fired central heating which is on a timer. This can be adjusted to suit your schedule. This is supplemented with the wood burning stove and turf is provided for your use. All heating and electricity is included in the price. We ask all guests to clean up after themselves and to leave the cottage in the same condition in which they found it.
We have crafts from local Mayo craftspeople now available for purchase in the cottage.
Starter supplies are provided in our welcome basket and in relevant areas which consist of toilet roll, paper kitchen towels, firelighterin the stove, turf, washing tab, dish wash detergent and cleaning cloth, cleaning supplies, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, scones, butter, jam!!
The cottage is located in a quiet, rural area, 5 miles from the neighbouring towns of Charlestown and Ballaghaderreen. Sometimes the only noise is the sound of farm animals and birds chirping!
There is no public transit within walking distance, so a car is a very good idea.
One of the best loved aspects about Frank's Cottage are the two very friendly donkeys who are sure to give you a big, warm welcome!
We normally try to greet our guests but because our check in is flexible we may not always be home ( or awake!) when guests arrive. We will have as much or as little contact depending on what each guests want! We live next door to the property
*Families with young children staying more than 2 nights - please indicate the number of children and their ages to apply for this discount

"Home away from home!"
We stayed at Franks' Cottage last summer while on vacation in Ireland. We had an awesome time! The cottage is in a beautiful area and it was a good base to tour Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo. There are bikes to ride or you can take a walk down the country road. The cottage was bright, very clean and neat. Perfect for a family of four. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was warm as it was still pretty cold at that time of year! There is a stove that burns peat logs. They had hairdryers, washer/dryer and full kitchen. The view of the countryside was wonderful and we enjoyed watching the donkey's in th back yard. Judy and Seamus are very friendly and welcoming. They were great hosts! Can't wait to go back!
We loved having you and your family as guests! So glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to a return trip?!
