Set on a hillside overlooking the tiny hamlet of Hewood and with long views over the beautiful Dorset countryside, Hill Cottage has been tastefully modernised throughout.

Built of cob and with unusual historical connections (the landscape painter Lucien Pissarro died here in 1944), Hill Cottage is bright, cheerful and very comfortable, and the terraced gardens afford a peaceful and pleasant place to relax with a glass or two at the end of the day, admiring the far-reaching views over this little-known part of South Dorset.

Although Hill Cottage is hidden amongst a maze of rural lanes, it is only five miles from either Chard or Crewkerne, affording easy access to the many attractions of the area. Forde Abbey and Cricket St. Thomas (wildlife park) are very close by, with historic houses such as Montacute and Barrington Court (NT) not much further. The area is rich in ancient sites like Maiden Castle and Eggardon Hill, and wonderful walks abound. Lyme Regis is about a half-hour drive, giving access to the famous Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site with superb beaches and cliff paths. Exeter, Dorchester and Taunton (for motorway link) are all within an hour's drive.
