Privileged to be in one of the most sought after locations of this beautiful area, Almyrida View Villa enjoys both privacy and panoramic views whilst being within walking distance of the small fishing harbour, shops, cafés and excellent tavernas that are clustered around the pretty cove-like sandy beach in Almyrida. Nestled on an elevated hillside, the villa has wonderful sweeping views across Souda Bay to the Akrotiri Peninsula in the north, and over olive and almond covered rocky hillsides to The White Mountains in the south.

Built on one level, Almyrida View Villa is welcoming, family friendly and well appointed, with a large private pool and spacious sun terrace. With location, views, and every modern amenity possible, romantic couples who want a good amount of privacy, or families of all generations who wish to enjoy their independence by walking down to the village and sandy beaches, will be equally enchanted by Almyrida View Villa.

Built on one level, Almyrida View Villa is welcoming, family friendly and well appointed. The spacious open-plan living/dining room has a well equipped kitchen to one side, and an archway to a large games room that has a pool table which can keep both adults and children alike entertained for hours. The light and airy living room has high vaulted beamed ceilings and extra wide sliding doors leading to the large semi covered dining/pool terrace, from where children can be easily supervised in the swimming pool. The villa has been thoughtfully designed so that none of the bedrooms share adjoining walls which gives added privacy to each guest.

Almyrida View Villa has been comfortably furnished with a combination of simple, locally made pine furniture, and many modern features such as an out-sized corner sofa which is ideal for relaxing on, satellite TV, a DVD player, a large kitchen inventory, a washing machine, a microwave oven, dishwasher, internet access (for a small fee), aluminium windows and shutters, and air-conditioning in the bedrooms. For those cooler nights at the start and end of the season there is central heating and the A/C units double up as heaters. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater.

Despite the villa’s well laid out interior which easily lends itself to relaxed summer living, it is the outside area that guests find so difficult leave. The half acre property has been carved into the hillside in order to maximise the views and the privacy. The gravelled private parking area, and the country road that leads down to the village on the east side of the villa, are hidden by an attractive high natural stone wall and raised flowerbeds.

In keeping with a typical Mediterranean garden, the flowerbeds are planted with orange, lemon and olive trees, 6 mature date palms, Washingtonian palms, oleander, and geraniums. The land drops away dramatically below the pool/dining terrace on the north and west sides of the villa which allows for exceptional views to the turquoise bay, the silver and green olive covered hillsides, and the White Mountains. Railings and gates ensure the safety of the younger members of the family, and the 7 roman steps that lead into the large swimming pool lend themselves perfectly for children or less confident swimmers to sit on and cool off on the long hot summer days that Crete is famous for.

Ample outdoor equipment has been supplied including sun-beds, umbrellas, a barbecue, and 2 dining tables and chairs. With a bamboo covered pergola, there is a good choice of sun and shade during the day. At night, with the outside areas romantically illuminated, this is the perfect place to sit and marvel at the gorgeous sunsets, or on a warm clear night, look at the twinkling stars, and the lights in the bay from the ferries that go past on their nightly journey to Athens. The sweet aroma from the jasmine and bougainvillea that climb up the wall outside the living room and master bedroom add to this idyllic setting.

Almyrida View Villa is located in the heart of The Apokoronas Region just east of the beautiful town of Chania. With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind Chania's harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Visit 'Leather Lane' for outstanding hand made leather bargains.

The climate of Crete is a temperate Mediterranean climate and the weather is characterized by long hot, dry summers and mild winters. The Spring can be warm and sunny during the day but still have cooler evenings and is perfect for walking, birdwatching and looking at the wild flowers. All in all Crete is absolutely perfect for your villa holiday.

The Chania / Almyrida area

The heart of the lovely village of Almyrida is only 550m from Almyrida View Villa and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 5 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops,a pharmacy, an organic fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving office, a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, boat trips, horse riding, guided walking tours, and guided coach excursions.

A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

Cooking classes and wine tasting set at a local winery can be taken by those of you who are interested. Guided walks led by experts in mountaineering and/or flora and fauna can also be arranged. For those of you who prefer to venture out on your own, a copy of the guide book "Crete on the Road" by Frankie Miles comes with every villa. The book contains detailed directions to many well known and hidden sites, opening times and prices for all attractions, taverna recommendations, and the only existing map of the National Highway showing the exits and entrances.

All our clients receive a substantial free welcome pack (it is possible to upgrade to a deluxe hamper for an additional charge of €50.00), a villa information book, and detailed directions to all of the sights from the guide book 'Crete on the Road' by Frankie Miles.

A local adviser, speaking English, Greek, German and French will be on hand offering assistance and information during office hours and 24/7 emergency assistance.

All services and the use of air conditioning and other equipment, as advertised, (except for internet access) are included in the weekly rental rates shown on this web site.

There is a twice weekly maid service, a twice weekly towel change, and a once weekly linen change included in the rental rates.

We do ask that reservations are made well in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

Children are most welcome in all our properties and we provide a High Chair and Cot loan service for a small fee, but we do ask that Children are supervised at all times whilst around and in the Swimming Pool.

For the 2013 season WIFI internet access is available for up to 5 laptops and/or tablets. Top up cards for air-time will need to be purchased locally or from our representative in resort.

To secure this villa we ask for a deposit payment of 20% on bookings over 1000.00 Euros or 200.00 Euros on booking under 1000.00 Euros, with the final balance payable in full 10 weeks before your arrival date.

As with all our villas on the island, we can arrange taxi transfers and/or car hire through reputable companies.
