About the home

Ideal villa to rent on its own or with its sister villa Iannis, both set in a large plot with private pools, quiet and secluded but within a 5 minute walk from the sandy beach. An easy level walk to the beach and the villa is very suitable for familes, friends or the older generation look for a more relaxed holiday as its an easy flat walk to the beach. Its located in a peaceful location yet close to tavernas and restaurants and the sandy beach. There is often an onshore wind in Almyrida which makes even the hottest months much more pleasant with a fantastic choice of places to eat and drink.

On the ground floor there is a double bedroom, kitchen/diner, lounge area and bathroom with hand basin and WC.

On the First Floor you will find two further bedrooms, one twin and one double with views of Souda Bay to the front and the White Mountains to the side. The family bathroom is on this floor.

Further details outdoors:
Vavara is next to Iannis but on a large plot with a very large patio area. At the front of the property there is a wild garden which is shared between the 2 properties and there are lemon and olive trees. The villas are in an ideal situation for the beach and tavernas but not too close so that you have peace and quiet! They have lovely views of the White Mountains. Both villas have barbecues.

Please take care on the patio as this does inevitably become wet by the pool so please do not run and take adequate care. Both pools are approx 3 metres by 6 metres.

The Crete region

Villa Vavara is situation in Almyrida which is a lovely small fishing village with approximately 12 tavernas/bars/restaurants. The beach is a gently shelving sandy beach. Plaka is up the road with another 3 or 4 tavernas/bars/restaurants.

The Chania / Almyrida area

The main town of Chania is worth visiting, as is Rethymnon. However, if you wish you have all the amenities at hand and therefore could get away without travelling anywhere. It would be handy to have a car but if you wish to remain at the location itself then you can get a taxi too and from the airport. What makes Almyrida spectacular is the White Mountains mixed with the sea and beautiful landscape. If you want to do a bit more than relax you can cycle, walk or take a trip to Lake Gouda perhaps which is also nearby. Crete is almost an all year round destination because it is the most Southerly and therefore you are hopefully bound to have some good weather at some point whatever time of year!

There are 2 airports, Chania and Heraklion. Chania is about a 45 minute drive and Heraklion a 2 hour coastal trip.

There are many airlines flying to the airports with Heraklion having the majority of flights.

Hiring a car is simple in Crete with many good value car hire companies working from both airports. Please ask us should you wish to be advised. If you are staying for just a week and arriving in Chania it is possible that you may not need a car and can travel to the villas by taxi. We do recommend a car for 2 weeks.

“Comfortable, secluded villa close to beach and tavernas” Our second stay at Villa Vavara was as enjoyable as the first, its well equipped and close to the lovely village/town of Almyrida which has a reasonable choice of shops and tavernas. The sandy beach is lovely and child friendly with a rocky headland that is good for snorkelling. The Villa is well placed for visiting Chania, Georgiopoulis and the lovely beach at Stavros and only about 35 mins from Chania Airport. The pool is a reasonable size and the shady lemon grove in the grounds really enhances the property and gives a good supply of fresh lemons. Might benefit from english language satellite TV but we weren't there to watch TV.
