The property is painted in traditional Greek white. It pure clean lines make it a stunning scene with the gardens, including olive and lemon trees. You are welcome to pick lemons at your leisure to add to your gin and tonic in the evening! Umbrella and sunbeds provided for the beautiful pool, what more could you wish for!

The Crete region
Villa Vavara is situation in Almyrida which is a lovely small fishing village with approximately 12 tavernas/bars/restaurants. The beach is a gently shelving sandy beach. Plaka is up the road with another 3 or 4 tavernas/bars/restaurants.
Chania / Almyrida area
The main town of Chania is worth visiting, as is Rethymnon. However, if you wish you have all the amenities at hand and therefore could get away without travelling anywhere. It would be handy to have a car but if you wish to remain at the location itself then you can get a taxi too and from the airport. What makes Almyrida spectacular is the White Mountains mixed with the sea and beautiful landscape. If you want to do a bit more than relax you can cycle, walk or take a trip to Lake Gouda perhaps which is also nearby. Crete is almost an all year round destination because it is the most Southerly and therefore you are hopefully bound to have some good weather at some point whatever time of year!
How to get there
There are 2 airports, Chania and Haraklion. Chania is about a 45 minute drive and Haraklion about 1.45. Haraklion, although further, is a very easy (and stunning) drive.
Easyjet now fly to Haraklion from Gatwick and many other airlines fly to Crete such as First Choice.
Hiring a car is simple in Crete with many good value car hire companies working from both airports. We tend to use Autoclub. Ask for June and mention the villa you are staying in and they may offer a discount.
