'Sunset Villas’ sit on a dramatic elevated headland, a location chosen for the fabulous views (to the fore an east to west ocean panorama with breathtaking sunsets over the sea - to the rear and side imposing views of mountains (snowcapped in early season). There is a large main terrace for barbecues, dining or watching the sun go down, preferably with favourite tipple in hand! The area around the pools with sunbeds, etc. is generous. Below the house, there is a shady area for tabletennis and a terrace with built-in sunbathing slabs. There are lots of spots to find a patch of shade with a deckchair and a book. In short a place where relaxation becomes second nature and your surroundings are a delight (when you have to go home you will have to drag yourself away). If you want diversions, the resorts of Almerida, Kalives and Georgioupoli are all an easy, scenic drive away. Chania, one of the loveliest cities in Greece, takes 40 mins. Further afield there are excursions to suit every taste.

The Crete region
Sunset Villas is nicely placed within easy reach of many attractive faclities. These include lovely bays for swimming and snorkelling, sandy beaches, unspoilt villages, historical sites, water park, go-karts, mountain and gorge walking, turtle sanctuary, glass-blowing factory and the beautiful Venician city of Chania.
You are assured of continuous sunny days from May to September and a small bonus for some - we rarely get any mosquitoes on our hillside!!!
Chania / Kokkino Chorio area
Villa Athena is within walking distance of the unspoiled village of Kokkino Chorio (Red Village) - so called because of the local earth colour. There is just one (excellent) taverna and two small but well-stocked shops. The (Blue Flag) beach resort of Almerida is 12 minutes by car (safe swimming and a string of good restaurants) and the fabulous rocky "Octopus Bay" is the same distance in opposite direction.
Just outside Kokkino Chorio there is a fascinating glass works where they recycle wine bottles, turning them into superb blown glass objects. There is restaurant attached to the factory serving very good organic foods.
How to get there
FLYING DIRECT **There are no direct flights in winter - but from late March to late October you can go from a variety of UK airports direct to Chania or Heraklion airports (Chania is 40 minutes and Heraklion 2 hours + by car to Sunset Villas.
**If you are booking well in advance, Easyjet has the best fares but compare them with the charter airlines to make sure - best way to do this is to go to an online booking agency (like www.travelrepublic.co.uk).
FLYING VIA ATHENS **If you are happy to change planes (or indulge in a little city break) in Athens you have lots of choice. You can fly Olympic Airways from Heathrow, Aegean Air from Stanstead or Easyjet from Gatwick or Luton. You can then hop over to Crete by air or you might think it fun to take the overnight ferry (Annek Line).

Further details indoors: Large, high, airy living rooms with open plan well equipped kitchen. Master bedroom has a modern four-poster bed with gauze drapes (although there is really no problem with mosquitoes at this site). 2nd bedroom has twin beds that can also be made up as a comfortable double. Both bedrooms have a good sized en suite bathroom with roomy wet floor shower.
The summer in Crete is made for outdoor living so each room has big double glass doors so the house can be opened up and there's lots of outdoor space for sunbathing and al fresco living, suitably equipped with furniture, BBQ, etc., etc.

Conditions
The prices shown are for a stay of 1 week starting on a Tuesday. A 10% discount is applied to the price of a 2nd or 3rd week booked and 15% discount to a 4th and any subsequent weeks booked.
A 20% deposit is taken upon booking. The balance is due 8 weeks prior to the holiday start date and an invoice is sent by email two weeks before that. A receipt is sent by email for all payments received and cleared.
Payment can be by credit card using the online payment agency PayPal, or for holders of a PayPal account by direct PayPal transfer,or by direct interbank transfer. In each case full directions as to how to make the payment is given.

Terry, hi - just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had at Villa Ajax in August. We have visited Crete many times and this was one of our best stays! The villa was superb: clean, homely, with loads of facilities, more than you mention on your website. It's so safe for children too.The gardens are fabulous, especially considering the usual wasteland which surrounds modern villas on Crete these days! It was really beautiful. We were particularly impressed with the natural excavated stone used to landscape the gardens. But the most outstanding piece was the view of the sunset which had us all glued to the horizon every evening.
