The Crete region
Rock Houses' "Villa Melody" is in the most touristic village of Chania prefecture, Platanias. It is only 3 minutes walking distance from a sandy beach which is unfolded in an extent of many kilometres and in which the visitor enjoys moments of relaxation in isolated beaches, moments of adventure with water sports in the well-organised beaches, or moments of frantic amusement in innumerable beach bars.
Precisely in front of the villa the magnificent port of Platanias is found, a small Marina that entertains fishing boats and tourist boats. From there you might visit, with a small boat that makes daily trips, the islet “Thodorou” precisely opposite Platanias in which the unique kri - kri (Cretan chamois) are protected, you can swim in splendid waters round the islet, and you can also enjoy diving, snorkelling and boat rides in innumerable other points of the gulf.
The village of Platanias, which in combination with its preferential place in the prefecture and the splendid beaches, is classified as one of the most touristic parts of Greece and you can find all services needed. Here you will find banks and ATM machines, post office doctor’s office, drugstores, super markets, commercial shops and shops with touristic types and souvenirs, a lot of playground areas and mini golf, restaurants, cafeterias, bars, clubs, as well as live music scenes.
There is also regular transportation urban and long distance, taxi and a lot of tourist offices and motorbike and car rental offices. Also from a lot of points of the village, you can take the graphic mobile trains that make near and distant trips in beautiful locations and traditional villages outside the region of Platanias. Souda which is the commercial harbour of Chania abstains only 30 minutes and the airport of Chania 45 minutes.
Chania / Platanias area
In Chania prefecture there are many choices for daily excursions or near walks, like the city of Chania, which abstains hardly 14 km from the villas. There you can walk in splendid small roads of the old city of Chania with background the famous and beautiful Venetian harbour, with the innumerable tourist shops taverns and restaurants, as well as a lot of bars and cafeterias.
Visit the Venetian fortress of Firka, in which the naval museum of Chania is accommodated. Precisely opposite dominates the famous lighthouse in the entry of the old harbour. Little further is also the archaeological museum of Chania, which has important discoveries of the Minoan years and from the ancient Kydonia. Also a very beautiful and interesting place to visit is the Municipal Market of Chania.
Platanias is also in the middle of a lot of destinations and it is very easy for you to be directed to the beauties of the island from here. The splendid Falassarna with the ancient harbour and the amazing big sandy beach, abstains hardly half an hour from the villa. Just about on the half of the way there, you enter Kasteli with its graphic port and fish taverns, as well as the main harbour of Kasteli which connects Western Crete with the island Kithira and Peloponnesus. From there you can take small boats that make daily excursions to splendid Balo with the magical landscape and Grampoysa with its castle.
In the southern part of the prefecture is Palaiohora, a graphic fish village with a lot of taverns, bars and tourist shops. From there you can take the boat for the island Gaydos, which is the European continent’s outmost southern piece, and Elafonisi with the sandy beaches and gulfs with all the nuances of blue colour in the sea. By car you can go to the famous area of Sfakia and enjoy the very tasty “sfakianes pites” and other splendid flavours in their taverns. A big municipal parking where you can leave your car exists there and you can take the boat in order to visit Loutro village, a village of unique beauty in which automobiles don’t exist, it has spotless waters and a lot of hotels if you would want to stay for a night. The boat also goes to the Saint Roymeli village an other small graphic village where leads also to the gorge of Samaria.
Of course there are so many other places to visit that it is impossible to write in short all of the beautiful places in Chania perfecture. One just has to be here to experience the beauties of this wonderful island.
How to get there
Regular flights and charter flights to the airport of Chania on a daily basis. Local busses run regularly from the airport to Platanias village. Two ferries from the city of Athens arrive to Souda Port everyday and local busses run regularly from the port to Platanias village.

Further details indoors: On the ground floor(55m²) of each villa you will have a fully equipped luxury kitchen with refrigerator, electric oven and ceramic plateau, microwave oven, multi coffee maker, toaster, juicer, dishwasher, air condition and independent heating system for the winter. In the living room you can enjoy watching the satellite LCD TV. DVD, audio stereo system, as well as the fire place during the cold winter days. You will have special relaxation moments in the bedroom with its king size bed, the romantic bed cloths and the sensual candle lighting reflecting on the stone walls. Also in the bedroom there is a TV set. In the sun bright bathroom you can relax in the hydro massage bathtub and considering your personal needs we have at your disposal hair dryer, a personal kit treatment, towels, bathrobes and slippers. As you walk up the stairs from the living room, you get to the attic(13m²) of the house with its bedroom, which can be changed from a king size bed to two single beds, according to your needs and always having as a result your comfort. From this beautiful room of the villa, you feel so close to the natural materials with which both villas were built, such as the big logs made of cypress woods that hold the roof. You can also have a wonderful look at the garden the swimming pool and the veranda from the window next to your bed. As you walk out the door you come to the big balcony(25m²) from where you can enjoy the wonderful view from above and also sunbathing. The swimming pool(25m²) of each villa is right in front, into its cool tree planted garden(200m²) with comfortable sunbeds. Between the two villas a group of trees has been planted so you can enjoy the natural discreet privacy of the house you have chosen. From the living room walking down the stairs you come to the basement(35m²) of the house, where you can use the washing machine, the drier, the ironing board and iron whenever it’s needed in a little room especially formed. There is also a luxurious W.C with hydro massage shower, hair dryer and towels. You will also have the possibility of using an area of 30m2 of the basement according to your needs and after informing us, as: *A children’s playground with interests of occupation for our little guests. A welcome very rich tray is provided with homeade goodies as a warm welcome to our guests. We are flexible on arrival dates but arrival time is after 14.00hrs and departure must be latest by 11.00hrs.

Conditions
TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1st In order to confirm your booking you will have to send us a deposit of 25% of the total amount of your stay plus 300 euros as a breakage deposit, which will be returned to you on your departure date, if no damage or loss of an item has occurred. The balanced amount will have to be paid by you 20 days prior your arrival. Reservations made within 20 days or less from the start of the rental period require full payment at the time of booking.
2nd After your arrival and in case you do not stay all the days you have booked the villa for, there will be no refund of your money.
3rd In case you cancel your booking after our confirmation letter has been issued: -2 weeks before arrival the amount charged will be 100% of the total cost of your stay. -4 weeks before arrival the amount charged will be 100% of the booking deposit -6 weeks before arrival the amount charged will be 50% of the booking deposit.
4th Parents and guardians are responsible for the use of the swimming pool by children.
5th We have made an inventory list of the items inside the villa the garden and the pool area which is checked with you before your check in and before your departure. In case of breakage or loss of an item inside the villa, in the garden and pool area, you will be considered responsible and we will therefore have to hold the amount of damage from your breakage deposit. If the amount is higher than the breakage deposit you will be asked to pay the difference. If the amount of the breakage is less than the breakage deposit, we will return to you the remaining amount of your breakage deposit.
6th Upon arrival, our guest who made the booking will have to sign with their identification documents / passport.
7th It is forbidden: to displace the interior furniture pets inside the villa and the garden We would very much appreciate it if you would not smoke inside the villa.
Pet Rules PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED inside the villa. Rule breakers are subject to losing their damage deposit.
Pool Rules No running arround the pool. Children under 12 years old are not allowed in the pool without parental supervision.
Garbage pick-up is on Wednesday and Sunday evening. Please place garbage can by the car ramp. All trash should be placed in garbage can with the lid tightly secured. Ants are a common problem. Please keep the kitchen clean and free of crumbs. Dispose off all trash appropriately.
Smoking Policy: Smoking is not permitted in the house. Smoking is permitted on the veranda and the garden. Please dispose off cigarette butts properly.
No House Parties: Please be respectful of our neighbors. No loud parties. No music outside after ten o’clock at night. You will lose the entire damage deposit if police are called and come to property for any disturbance.
On Departure: All furniture should be in the same place as it was on arrival. The kitchen should be clean, dishes washed, and refrigerator wiped down. All trash should be bagged and disposed of in garbage can. Check under beds and furniture for all personal belongings. Please close all curtains. Lock all windows and doors. Leave keys on kitchen table.

It has been a real pleasure to spend one week in this wonderful villa. We made many small trips around Platanias and the region which were wonderful.
