Villa Kannoni

Our villa is a stone built traditional style 3 bedroom house set in its own grounds of 1200 sq mtrs with a private swimming pool and fantastic views over Souda bay and towards the White mountains which can be snow capped from November through to April.The villa is located just outside the small village of Kokkino Chorio about 2 mins drive to the square where there is a traditional taverna and a mini market.Almirida is the nearest beach resort 10 min drive away, it has a lovely sandy beach and shallow sea ideal and safe for chidren, there is also windsurfing and sailing facilities on the beach. Along the sea front there are tavernas offering a good choice of foods. A little further along the coast lies Kalives which also boasts a good beach, safe swimming and more facilities, being a larger resort.

Inside the Villa

You enter the villa through a double stone arched courtyard into The large open plan fully equipped kitchen /dining room with high timber beamed ceiling and exposed stone walls,leading from the dining area you go through into the lounge with open fireplace and comfortable leather settees. From the lounge there are 2 sets of french doors that lead out onto a large terrace for alfresco dining and sitting. Also on the ground floor there is a twin bedded bedroom and a large bathroom with a large walk in shower area.

Upstairs there is the master bedroom with double bed that leads out onto a very large private terrace with chairs,table and a parrasoll, and magnificent viewsout towards the sea. The second twin bedded bedroom has views towards the mountains and the sea and has a large terrace with chairs ,table and a parrasoll. Also upstairs there is a bathroom with bath and shower over.

All bedrooms have full air conditioning large ceiling fans and mosquito nets , there are large ceiling fans in the dining area and lounge to keep you cool in the hot summer months, plus the villa has full central heating for those chilly evenings in early spring

Outside

From the lane that leads down to the villa you go through metal gates to the car parking area and a stone path that leads round to the front of the house onto the large veranda and down 3 steps to the swimming pool with sunloungers around it .The grounds are fully enclosed with the existing ancient dry stone walls and fencing to stop the sheep and goats enjoying a dip in the pool. We have a barbecue in the garden for your use.

The villa is located in a quiet area. It has a private 40 sq mtr swimming pool set in a fully enclosed large garden, with several secluded patio areas , large balconys to all bedrooms with sea and mountain views, a barbecue. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The Crete region

IThis part of Western Crete it is still relatively un-commercialised, you have the magnificent White Mountains contrasting with some of the islands best beaches. It is renowned for walking especially in early spring when the wild flowers are beginning to emerge.

The Chania / Kokkino Chorio area

The villa is situated just outside of Kokkino Chorio, which is a lovely village with stunning sea and mountain views.

The towns of Chania and Rethymnon are only a 35 and 45 minute drive respectively. Chania airport is a 25 minute journey. The village is only a few minutes drive from Plaka and Almirida offering wonderful blue flag beaches, excellent seafood and much more.There is now a squash club in Kokkino Chorio and at Almerida Residence there is now a bowling alley in the basement of this boutique hotel.

Chania Airport is the closest at only 35min drive away. Heraklion airport is an easy drive along the main highway that takes approx 90 min . There are several charter flight operators which fly to both Chania and Heraklion mainly on a Tuesday ,these are Monarch, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Thompson Fly, Viking, Jet2.com and Easyjet which now fly into Chania starting May 2010. We can also recomend several car hire companies that will deliver and collect your hire car from your chosen airport at competative prices .

“Nice villa in a good location” We spent two weeks at Villa Kannoni. It's location is peaceful with some amazing views of Souda Bay. The sunsets from the upstairs terrace were stunning. It was easy to find thanks to the excellent directions given by the owners. There are plenty of bars and tavernas in the local area although none of them are really within walking distance. A car is essential if you stay here. There are some delightful villages and small beaches/bays not too far away which are definitely worth exploring. The villa itself is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The furnishings are of a high standard. The pool area is fantastic although has very little shade which can be difficult in the height of summer. The garden really let the villa down as it was very unkempt, dry and prickly. The plant pots on the terraces were the same. This was a shame as the gardens and planters of other villas in the area were very pretty and colourful. Generally we felt the villa was in need of a little tlc but this did not affect our holiday. We were also disappointed not to receive a welcome pack. All in all we enjoyed a very relaxing and very hot two weeks at Villa Kinnoni! Response: Thank you for your comments we have taken on board the issues about the garden and this autumn when season is finished we have organised for it to be further landscaped. We will also do any on going mainteance. The welcome packs are available on request for a small cost as in the advert. We are glad you enjoyed the stunning views and the sunsets as this was the reason we fell in love with the place.

The view from the balcony at sunset is breathtaking.Thanks for great welcome pack as we arrived late at night.

We are all packed and have to say, sad to go. The location and the villa has been fantastic. We are pleasantly surprised at the facilities for us to use, its like being home from home, a high standard of accommodation.

Would recommend days out in Chania and Rethymon. We,ll recomend Villa Kannoni to our friends and family.

Second visit to villa and it has been just as special second time around. Beautiful villa in a wonderful position with spectacular views, very well appoited and we wanted for nothing,weather fantastic. We will be back .
