About the home

Located on the Southern Crete coast, a traditional and untouched area, where you will find a small selection of tavernas scattered along the coastline flanked by sandy beaches. This idyllic setting is where you will find Theo's Villa, on the edge of a sandy beach with 4 bedrooms, private pool, sea views and an excellent Taverna just a short walk away. This villa is the perfect choice for a quiet beach-focused family holiday.

Steps up from the pool lead to a raised terrace. The front door opens into an open plan sitting room and dining/kitchen area. There is also a full bathroom on this level. Patio doors from the sitting room and kitchen open onto a large balcony which overlooks pool.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), each with their own access to the front balcony. There is also a large family bathroom. The ground floor, via a separate entrance, opens into a self contained apartment with lounge/kitchen, 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) and bathroom.

The bright and airy sitting room area has a comfortable sofa (which can open as an additional bed if required). From the living area, patio doors open to the front terrace which overlooks the gardens and pool. The well equipped kitchen includes a dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen has a full size cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave oven and a host of electrical appliances. The kitchen opens onto a part-shaded pool and terrace with sea view. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have French doors opening onto a shaded terrace which overlooks the pool and sea views over the beach. The ground floor apartment has its own shaded terrace with outside lounge. Inside there is a modern kitchen with full cooker, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a separate air conditioned lounge with TV. The apartment has 2 air conditioned bedrooms; 1 double and 1 twin. The apartment has a large family bathroom.

The private pool is set within well tended gardens, with sun umbrellas, sun beds and sea views.

The Beach:
The villa is a short stroll from a child friendly sandy beach and an even shorter stroll to the taverna belonging to the owner of the villa. Here he serves mouth watering traditional Cretan dishes, fresh fish caught daily, a variety of grilled meats and local wine. The taverna has a few sun loungers and parasols on the beach for the guests and also a couple of bicycles that you can use.

The Crete region

Crete, an island renowned for its natural beauty, beaches, diverse landscapes, speckled mountain ranges and interesting caves. The most dramatic features though are the spectacular gorges that cut through the mountains and spill out to sea. The rugged interior is interspersed with vast plateaus and fertile plains creating breathtaking walks and adventures. For those look for a less active holiday, Crete also boasts some of Europe's best beaches with a stunning range of sweeping sandy beaches, idyllic coves and palmed dunes.

The Chania / Fragocastello area

The village of Frangokastello is named after the ruins of the fortified castle that still stands on the coastline. The village itself is strung out along the flat fine sandy beaches and the plain beneath a mountain backdrop.
Frangokastello is a quiet and unspoilt area set beside the sea, there are several tavernas and some supermarkets selling nearly everything that you might need, we consider this place to be a haven for small or large families and would also suit a large group of friends holidaying together.

The Imbros Gorge, is close to Frangokastello, and is the second most popular gorge on Crete after Samaria for walkers. The walk is not too strenuous and can be completed in 2 or 3 hours. The scenery is beautiful and the relative ease of the hike makes it an ideal walk even for families with children.

Most visitors come to Crete directly by plane, especially by charter. There are however a number of other options.
Charter flights from Europe are quite numerous from some time in April until the end of October.
Almost all scheduled international flights transit through Athens where you must take a scheduled domestic flights to either Chania or Heraklion.
There is a regular ferryboat service from the port of Piraeus to Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania. Ships depart every evening around 8.00 or 8.30 (times vary a little depending on the season) and arrive very early morning (5.00 or 6.00 am).
The best option if you want to come by car or motorbike is overland through Germany and Italy and by ferry from Ancona in Italy.
