About the home

Luxury detached villa on a 2500 m2 plot, located between Vamos and Kalives, in a unique location with fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the White Mountains (Lefka Ori). The villa is surrounded by a large Mediterranean garden where among other citrus trees and olive trees. There is a private salt water pool 10 x 5 meters, including a children's pool and sun terrace with sun beds, umbrellas and an outdoor shower. Also their is a fantastic outside bbq house.

The villa can accommodate 6 people. On the ground floor is the master bedroom with an indoor bathroom (shower, washbasin and toilet). There are also two spacious bedrooms on the first floor, with a spacious bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. All bedrooms have air-conditioning and spacious balconies adjacent to a fantastic view.

The ground floor contains a spacious living room with fireplace and patio doors to the covered verandas. Also there is a TV, DVD player and a radio system in the villa . The luxury kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge / freezer, cooker hood, hot plate and oven. Furthermore one finds in the kitchen all sorts of kitchen utensils in a kitchen can be expected. There is also an iron, ironing board and drying rack available in the villa.

Given the location of the villa a car is a must ..

The Crete region

The beautiful hilly area is characterized by its olive groves and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and the White Mountains. Nearby are many beautiful authentic Greek villages, but also several larger and more touristy places like Almyrida and Kalives. The various beaches are within a few miles away. Also a wonderful area for walkers, the impressive White Mountains with their numerous gorges such as the Samaria Gorge and Imbros gorge are easily reached from here.

The city of Chania is about 24 km. It is an old town with mostly from the Venetian era left many monuments. Along the quay are still many great Venetian houses with narrow streets with many nice shops. Chania has a thriving nightlife and dining at one of the many restaurants at the port is recommended.

The traditional Greek village of Kalives with a slight element of tourism is located approximately 4 km away from the house. The village is situated in a green environment with the White Mountains in the background. It has a beautiful sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, and various taverns and restaurants immediately adjacent to the beach.

Furthermore, Kalives many shops including bakers, butchers, post office, supermarket, petrol station, kafenions and a beautiful church. Kalives Around There are several traditional villages that are definitely worth it.

Vamos also, a traditional Cretan village, where there is always a relaxed atmosphere, situated between the olive groves around 2 km away from the villa is an experience in itself. Kafenions and the many shops in the village square are worth a visit. There are several good restaurants and from there many beautiful walks.

At about 1 km away from the villa is the village of Douliana, a quiet Greek village with a conservation area, in a stunning setting surrounded by beautiful trees and oleanders. Again two tavernas and a genuine kafenion.

Crete has two international airports, Ioannis Daskalogiannis airport in Chania and Nikos Kazantzakis airport in Heraklion. During the summer months charter flights fly directly to Crete, but it is also possible to travel to Crete via Athens during the whole year with Olympic Air or Aegean Airlines. The nearest to the villa airport is Chania Airport, 35km (30min drive) away. Heraklion Airport is 120km (70-100min) away. Car is essential.

“Perfect” My husband, myself and our 3 children (aged 15, 13 and 11) have just returned from a fantastic fortnight in this beautiful villa. We would recommend a car if you are staying here as the nearest village/beach is probably about 10 minutes away and the property is situated at the top of a steep hill. The views from the villa are spectacular and the facilities are excellent. Large swimming pool, lovely barbecue area, modern well equipped kitchen, living/dining area, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - well stocked with towels and linent. We would certainly recommend this property and would love to re visit ourselves in the future.
