Maybe you are thinking of the Crete in summer, but you can have a great break in the winter or spring. Our rooftop apartment, high in the foothills of the White Mountains has the most amazing views, and you can watch “big weather” – vivid lightning, clouds rolling thru the gorges, and then, just as suddenly, be bathed in warm sunshine! Central heating keeps the place inviting & cosy, and there's a log burning somba for you to dream over the flickering flames. Thick fluffy quilts on the bed will keep you warm. Outside on the terraces you can sit out in the evenings under our radiant heaters.

It's the best weather for walking in, and the views of snow covered mountains in bright sunshine are a treat, and usually the snow stays until May. We can direct you to the most authentic tavernas, which are generally the ones which stay open all year round, and there are markets to visit, shops to browse in, and plenty of ruins to visit. Theres a much more genuine feel to the place, and you will experience more of the real Crete. And all without crowds of tourists! Direct flights start after Easter in April, but before then its doddle to fly from Northern Europe by the daily service from Aegean Air via Athens – a very civilized scheduled airline with good food, great service and its reasonably priced too.

The Apartment comprises the entire upper floor of Panokosmos - two rooms with a large roof terrace with panoramic views. A bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and TV with satellite channels and DVD player. Ensuite barrier free shower room with rainhead shower and hand shower. Covered private terrace to the south with table and chairs.

A living room with big comfy sofa and large flat screen SMART 3D TV with satellite channels, DVD player and internet access. Wood burning somba. The sofa makes up into a full sprung 160cm. Archway to a well equipped small kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge. Another identical shower room. Covered terrace to the east with radiant heater, catching the sun rising over Mount Psiloritis and, through the kitchen, a charming little west facing covered terrace where you snuggle up with blankets in the evening under the heater!

But the real joys are outside, where the unique location of Panokosmos becomes apparent. Take in the calm and tranquillity of this hill top environment, breathe in the fresh envigorating mountain air, and get some real relaxation. Feel the power of the mountains, benefit from distancing yourself from the world, and take a new perspective on your life. In the spring the island is a riot of colour from a rich variety of wild flowers, including many species found only on Crete. There are concerts of both Cretan and jazz/blues, and some interesting fusion events.

And if you can tear yourself away, you are only 25 minutes from the coast, 12 min from the nearest shops. Chania is less than 30 km away . If you don't want to venture out even that far, the taverna “Lemonia”, is only 5 minutes walk away. Leonidas, the owner, is a lyra maker, and still operates a stone mill for olive pressing and a donkey to power the millstones. He makes his own wine and Raki, the local fiery spirit.

The gardens are private and for the exclusive use of guests at the property. We, the owners, live in a small self-contained apartment in the basement of the villa, where we maintain everything in tip top condition, and are on hand to answer any questions or to give you advice and suggestions of things to do, places to visit, places to eat.
