About the home

This detached 3 bedroom chalet with 2 bathrooms is built in the traditional alpine style and is ideally suited to families wishing to explore the wonderful Chamonix Valley and beyond. With an abundance of activities in the area the chalet is only a few minutes drive from the village of Les Houches with its easy access to the Bellevue cable car and lifts. Situated just off the Route du Bois Rond, it is also just a few minutes drive to the historic and more vibrant town of Chamonix with its many shops, bars and restaurants. There are numerous activities in the area for all ages. Switzerland and Italy (via Mont Blanc Tunnel) are also easily reached for day trips.
After a day out the chalet offers a spacious and comfortable base with a large garden which is fully enclosed so is ideal for the younger members of the family. Any equipment such as mountain bikes, golf clubs, skis etc can be stored in the lock up garage and there is ample safe parking beside the chalet.
The chalet has electric heating and a log fire in the sitting area for cosy winter evenings and the dining area has french doors to the terrace and garden making it a perfect all year retreat.

25% of rental fee or minimum £100 deposit per week required. Full payment required 8 weeks before holiday.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The Haute-Savoie region borders Switzerland to the north, with Geneva being the closest major city. To the east Haute-Savoie borders Italy and to the west the department of Ain. The south borders Savoie.
Switzerland is within easy reach with Geneva being one hour motorway driving to Les Houches, which is a small village approximately 10 mins drive from Chamonix. The Aosta valley in Italy is less than an hour from the chalet via the Mont Blanc Tunnel with Milan being approximately 3 hours drive. A more senic drive can be taken through Switzerland to Aosta. The pretty french town of Annecy (1 hour from the chalet) with its old town and beautiful lake is well worth a visit.

The Chamonix / Les Houches area

The Chamonix Valley, lying at the foot of europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc, has a number of very attractive traditional towns and villages. Les Houches, only 10 minutes drive from Chamonix, is a traditional Haute Savoie village just a few minutes off the main motorway from Geneva. It offers a wide range of activities for all the family including the Parc de Merlet, swinging through the trees at L'Arbre Adventure, Paradis des Enfants at Les Praz, St Bernard dogs and many more. The local shops provide a range of regional products and sports equipment. Chamonix is the main town in the valley and has a vibrant and lively centre with bars, restaurants and shops. The spectacular mountain range surrounding the towns charming narrow streets and traditional alpine architecture give it a unique and distinctive quality. For breathtaking views the Montenvers train to the Mer de Glace or a trip on the Aiguille du Midi cable car are highly recommended.
A Mecca for sports enthusiasts of all ages, the first Winter Olympic Games were held in Chamonix in 1924. Skiing and mountaineering have been the main economy of Chamonix for many years with the Vallée Blanche giving a memorable excursion through glaciers and magnificent scenery. (Guide needed) The Kandahar World Cup ski race is held on the Piste Verte in Les Houches and ends in the village.
Summer in the valley offers a variety of activities for all age groups. As well as walking, hiking and mountain biking through spectacular mountain scenery the lakes in the area provide swimming and watersports. Tennis and golf are also close at hand along with mountain museums giving an historic account of the area.
