This superb 2 bedroom apartment in Chamonix enjoys spectacular views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi from the large sunny south facing terrace. It also has access to a rear balcony from both the master and twin bedrooms. The accommodation comprises of a comfortable lounge/dining area with UK satellite television/DVD player, X-Box with games (can be removed at parents request!) and CD player with iPod connection. The separate kitchen is well equipped and has a full size oven, hob and dishwasher. The master and twin bedrooms both have access onto a second rear balcony. There is a bathrrom, shower room and separate WC. The centre of Chamonix is a little over 5 minutes walk and the Aiguille du Midi cable car is only 50 metres away. Free parking is provided in the basement and the proximity to Geneva airport makes fly-drive ideal and a week-end break perfectly viable. All linen and towels are provided. Changeover day can be flexible during low season.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
The Rhone Alps sit on the Eastern side of France and this area specifically borders Italy, via the famous Mont Blanc tunnel and Switzeland both accessible by car, train or bus within 30 minutes. Other places of interest which can be reached within easy driving distance for day trips are Annecy, Geneva, Evian and Gruyere.
Chamonix / Chamonix Town Centre area
Chamonix is the hub of this world famous ski and alpine area, situated in the north west of the alps 15km from both the Italian and Swiss borders. Mont Blanc (4808m)and its chain of peaks dominate the valley. Chamonix is probably best known as the skiing and alpine capital of the world. As a destination it has a reputation for the extreme and this, whilst undoubtedly true, can mask a wide array of other sporting and leisure activities that can be enjoyed here. A mecca for mountaineers, you can also walk the hundreds of miles of beautiful footpaths, try mountain biking, paragliding, play golf or just enjoy peace and quiet in a beautiful place. Chamonix town has a cosmopolitan feel and a vast selection of restaurants and shops.
The town is at the foot of Mont-Blanc and following introduction of skiing in the early 1900s Chamonix hosted the first winter Olympic Games in 1924.
Geneva airport is just 80 kms away making for an exceptionally short transfer. Residence Les Gentianes is situated just south of The Arve on Rue du Lyret and is 5 minutes from the centre of Chamonix but just a couple of minutes from the Aiguille du Midi cable car station. A simple map is provided with final booking confirmation. The local supermarket and restaurants, bars and ski hire shops are 2 minutes away. Likewise the local FREE ski bus ('navette') stop is also a couple of minutes away providing services to Brevent, Flegere, Les Praz, Les Grands Montets, Argentiere and Le Tour ski areas.

Date Submitted: March 15, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008 The apartment was very clean, well furnished and had all the facilities you need including plenty of hot water. The views from the balcony and the back windows are just amazing and have to be seen. Great location, right by Chamonix Sud bus stop (for buses to all ski areas and its a drop off for the Geneva airport bus). Out the back door is a foods shop, pharmacy, Ski Hire places and 3 excellent bars and is only a few minutes walk to the main town. The owner is very helpful and friendly. We all had a great time and can't wait to come back. Great location, near the ski bus stop and with a well-stocked supermarket just behind in the square. Short walk into the main town. Glorious views from the balcony.
