We can also arrange food hampers, welcome packs, breakfast and bespoke meals. This is a free service which is aimed to help you start enjoying your holiday from the moment you arrive.
We meet you at the property and are on hand throughout you visit.
An optional daily cleaning service is available, price on request.

Further details outdoors:
During the summer season the garden area is available for children's play. The car parking is private and "off road" in the property's own carpark.
In winter the main roads are cleared of snow early and regularly by the local authority and walking to the town centre is easy, thus access to the shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other facilities such as Bowling is straightforward and does not need the use of a car.
There is a great "pub" and eatery just 150 metres down the road and a very good, more expensive, restaurant. Buses take you to all the main ski lifts and alternative ski areas. In summer, these operate for the well laid out walks, climbs and other activities such as paragliding.

Skiing and snowboarding: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18 km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.
Summer and the rest of the year: With the draw of Europe's premier natural attraction, Mont Blanc, Chamonix never sleeps. Whether it's simply to soak up the stunning scenery or get the adrenaline pumping, there is plenty for everybody to do all year round. There are a wide variety of marked trails for hiking and trekking; well-maintained bolted routes for rock-climbing; limitless mountaineering opportunities including Mont Blanc itself; an ever-expanding network of mountain bike trails; some of the most consistent thermals for superb paragliding; raging white water rapids for rafting and hydro speeding; canyoning and abseiling down the spectacular valley gorges; golf at the Trent Jones Sr designed 18 hole course in Chamonix, as well as many other top quality courses nearby; the sports centre has an indoor and outdoor 50 m swimming pool and a large grassed sunbathing area, water slides, numerous tennis courts, gym, spa, jacuzzi, the list goes on.
The Chamonix / Chamonix Town Centre area
Résidence Barrats is situated on Chemin de la Larze to the south-west of Chamonix town centre. It is around five minutes' walk from Place Balmat - the town square - and two minutes from the shops and facilities of Chamonix Sud. It is also just a few hundred metres from the main bus pick-up point for access to the slopes.
Chamonix's reputation as one of the liveliest apres-ski resorts in the Alps is justly deserved. With numerous bars, and even its own micro-brewery, you will find somewhere for every taste. Live music kicks off around 4pm in several venues, notably Chambre Neuf, MBC and South Bar, most days in the winter, but there are plenty of quiet and cosy meeting spots for a vin chaud and a chat.
As the early evenings pass into night-time, you can carry on partying until 4am or later in several nightclubs around town. On several nights of the year, all night licences mean you are likely to still be out at sunrise, especially during the summer months.
Many bars offer great food menus, but there is a huge selection of excellent restaurants as well, up to the Michelin-starred Albert Premier. Whether it be traditional French, Savoyarde, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean or just modern cuisine, Chamonix has it all.

AIR
Geneva is the nearest major airport, an easy 1 hour's drive away (motorway or major road all the way). It is very well served by easyJet, British Airways, flyGlobespan as well as several other airlines. Other options include Chambery (90 mins, Ryanair), Lyon (most airlines, 2 hours) or Turin in Italy (2 hours, Ryanair).
GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT
A car is always useful in the Chamonix Valley and often costs less than a transfer if there are several people in your group. All the major companies are represented at Geneva, but it is easiest to use holidayautos.co.uk or easycar.co.uk, which will seek out the best deal. It is best to hire from the Swiss side of the airport as the French side involves a long walk and a torturous route through Geneva centre). Alternatively, you can take a minibus transfer (www.hautepursuit.co.uk) which costs from 25-40 Euros per person, each way, depending on numbers. You get a free drink as well! The train takes several changes or if you fancy a scenic and rather slow route, you can always try the local bus! Contact www.mountain-lifestyle.com our in resort partners.
DRIVING FROM THE UK
Calais is 560 miles (890 km) from Chamonix Mont-Blanc and takes around 8 hours to drive. Easy enough to do in one go, a popular alternative is to take a stopover in either Reims, Chalon-sur-Champagne or Dijon, leaving only a few hours to go to Chamonix. French motorways are amazing, even with snow!
TRAIN
You can get the train right to Chamonix centre, with the last leg beginning in Passy le Fayet, just down the valley. There are various overnight trains from Paris to either Annecy or Lyon, connecting then to le Fayet. Not as easy as other ways of getting to Chamonix, really only for enthusiasts!

Quiet location, but close to Chamonix Sud centre and Aiguille du Midi cable car. Using the free bus pass you have access to a range of other lifts, including the Brevent, Index and Grands Montets. The Index was the most fun, with the open chair lift on the higher section, but the views from Aiguille du Midi and Grandes Montets are stunning. Worth getting a Multi Pass, just take one passport photo. The Cicerone guide to Chamonix by Hilary Sharp was very useful for planning our activities. The airport transfer with Haute Transfer was good, but check the price they offer with their website as that enabled me to get a reduction. You can get settled weather in early September in the Alps and we were lucky to have a week of sunshine, with rain either side of our week. |

I was looking for an apartment in Chamonix and this seemed to fit the bill. Located about 5 min walk from Aguille du Midi telecabine the location is very central, yet being set off the road it is very quiet. I didn't need to use the car all weekend so it stayed safely parked in the building parking lot (again set back from the street so feeling secure). The apartment is spacious and well equiped, clean and very functional, well lit etc. The beds are comfortable (very important!). It's nice to get the late afternoon sun in the living room and the views are great. The only minor problem was the bath would not drain, but MB came round on Sunday to sort that out with no fuss. And there was AWESOME amounts of snow! Overall a very practical, reasonably priced apartment. Would definitely stay there again. |

We were recommended and went onto Mountain-base website and searched. We wanted something not too expensive and with youngish children we did not want to have to use the car every time we went out.... more |
