The village resort of Les Houches is located in the Chamonix valley in the Haute Savoie, only 6km from Chamonix, the world capital of skiing and mountaineering.
Les Houches lies in the heart of the Mont-Blanc region.
Situated at an altitude of 1000 metres and lying at the foot of Mont-Blanc (4807m), Les Houches offers an exceptional panorama of the peaks surrounding Chamonix.
The village is made up of a number of hamlets, with oratories, chapels, old bread ovens and farms bearing witness to its past and being the objects of particular attention today.
The ski domain of Les Houches offers a large diversity of slopes through the forests, for all the snow disciplines, from beginners to world class skiers who meet on the famous'Verte' piste for the men's Alpine World Cup downhill and slalom events.
The Chamonix valley offers some of the best and most exhilarating free ride and downhill mountain biking in Europe, amongst some of the most pictureque surroundings imaginable.
Parascending is also nearby from the popular site of Plain Joux.
Lake Geneva and Lac Leman are within easy reach. Montreux and its famous JAZZ festival. Over the border in Italy you can visit Courmayeur, the Roman town of Aosta, the St Bernard Monastery or just enjoy a bowl of pasta.Climbing, white water rafting and horse riding during the summer months.There are 25 Golf courses within 90 minutes of Chamonix including the world famous EVIAN MASTERS course.

"Clean, well apppointed and quiet"
We stayed at Lousie's apartment in March. Louise is a great host, willing to help if there are any problems but in our case there wasn't any. The apartment is well appointed, and extremely clean. We travelled with our 15 month year old who slept extremely well as the apartment was quiet with little to no noise coming from upstairs (where the host lives). The location is great but does require a car to access the surrounding ski slopes. The only minor drawback was that the Wifi signal was not that strong and would drop out occainsonally but given we were on holiday we were not using the internet too much. Overall it is extremely good value for money and would highly recommend it to others.

"Cosy and Stylish"
We received a lovely warm reception from Louise, and had a great four days in this apartment. It has been really well designed to make best use of the space and everything is of a lovely quality. The underfloor heating makes it wonderfully cosy too (ask to have it turned down at night if it's too hot for you!).
As previous reviewers have said you do need a car but it's only a few minutes drive into Les Houches and really well positioned for access to the Chamonix Valley.
Ideal family accommodation - would definitely recommend to others.

"Great alternative to a hotel."
Convenient location, nice place, Great owner! Highly recommended. Better have a car to move around the skiing spots. And do bear in mind that there is no washing machine and dishwasher (somehow I took both for granted). These two appliances were the only things we'd missed.

"Great Apartment and Beautifully Fitted Out"
The Apartment is really nice, high standard and spotlessly clean. It is a quiet location and you need a car for the drive into town.

"Excellent accommodation , warm and welcoming."
I have just returned from my stay at this beautiful apartment with my husband and 2 friends, the accommodation is truly comfortable, modern, warm and cosy and was very quite and peaceful, our hostess was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful .
The scenery is spectacular and and we did many lovely walks just stepping out the door as well as driving to other beautiful places where we enjoyed walking and cycling.
It was perfect being able to park our car right outside our apartment and we enjoyed being able to sit in our own private garden.
I have no reservation in recommending this apartment to anybody wishing to visit this beautiful part of France and we will defiantly be returning !

"Super apartment in great location"
I have used this apartment with both my family and friends. We have used it in both summer and winter season and it has been perfect for our needs. It is well designed, with all rooms well equipped.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary appliances and utensils to have a full self catering holiday. The bathroom has a good size shower and plenty of space for two people to operate together without being in each others way. The main bedroom has a good size double bed with a whole wall of fitted storage. The second bedroom has a bunk bed so it is perfect for the kids (or a slightly over refreshed couple of friends). The main living \ dining area has lots of space to eat and lounge about and also comes with a good view up the valley towards Le Brevant. There is a good size TV with DVD player should you choose to spend warm evenings in. The apartment is always super comfy as it has an excellent under floor heating system. All the furniture is quality and everything works as it should. The apartment is always presented in immaculate and spotless order.
Transport is necessary but there is a good steak restaurant within a few minutes walk. Chamonix is a five minute drive and Les Houches is even closer. I have no hesitation of recommending this apartment for a small family or a group of friends.
