Home description
Chalet Le Courtil has five bedrooms plus a self contained garden house (mazot).
Our chalet is located in 1000 sq metres of private gardens at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet residential area on the sunny side of the Chamonix valley. Despite the secluded location the shops of Chamonix are only 200 metres from the chalet by footpath. The chalet is 600 metres on foot (or by car) from two of the local cable cars, Le Brevant and Aiguille De Midi plus 700 metres from the Savoie beginners ski area. We are two minutes walk from the free ski bus which goes to all the valleys ski areas and also three minutes walk from the new Chamonix Aiguille De Midi mountain railway halt which runs from La Fayet (with connection to Geneve) to Martigny in Switzerland.
The accommodation is arranged over three levels:
The Ground Floor has a large garage/work shop and utility/drying room. Additionally there is a bedroom with a double or two single beds plus two full size bunk beds and shower, toilet and washbasin and separate toilet. Also on the ground floor is the living room with flat screen TV and sound surround CD/DVD player. The living room opens onto the garden via a double patio door.
The First Floor has another bedroom with double or two single beds and bathroom off. There is also the fully equipped kitchen, office area and dining/second living room with open log fire. The dining room opens onto a large South facing balcony.
The second floor has a further three bedrooms, shower room and separate toilet. Bedroom Three has a double or two single beds plus two further single beds. Bedroom Four has a double or two single beds and Bedroom Five has a double or two single beds plus a further single bed.
In the gardens is a mazot (garden house) which sleeps two in a double bed with en suite shower and toilet.
The large gardens are surrounded by mature trees and hedges and are a haven for wild life such as birds, bats and red squirrels (with occasional visits from other interesting species). At the same time however there are stunning extensive views of the surrounding mountains, including Le Brevant, Les Houches, Mont Blanc, L'Aiguille De Midi and Les Grands Montets. There is also parking for several cars and a table tennis table, barbeque and swing with plenty of room in the garden for the children to play.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Haute Savoie is one of the most awe inspiring areas of Europe and possibly the world. Deep blue lakes and snow topped mountains. It is the perfect place to breath the mountain air and recharge the batteries after the struggles of everyday life.
Chamonix / Chamonix Town Centre area
Chamonix is the perfect place for all the family. It has every adventure sport conceivable available, in fact several were invented here. Climbing, parapenting, mountaineering, ice climbing, mountain biking, road biking, horse riding, hill walking, rambling, running, canyonning, rafting, activity parks, rope parks and summer luge. Additonally there are less adventurous activites such as golf, tennis, swimming and fishing available. Finally Chamonix is the perfect place to just sit and relax, take in the views, get a perfect tan and breath in the mountain air. Oh yes and there is a casino plus some very exclusive shops and restaurants in town, that is why the Italians arrive in force every weekend.
How to get there
Chamonix is an easy and scenic 60minutes drive from Geneva Airport on motorways and dual carriageways to within 2km of the centre of Chamonix, therefore there is no risk of car sickness or traffic jams on winding mountain roads. Geneva airport is within two hours flying time of most of Europe and has excellent links to the rest of the world. It is served by most of the major airlines plus budget airlines such as EasyJet, Jet2, Air Lingus, BMI. .....
We can provide private transfers from the airport to the chalet or alternatively car hire is available at the airport.
Chamonix is around eight to nine hours drive from Calais by motorway all the way.
Alternatively Turin, Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble airports are within 2-3 hours drive of Chamonix by motorway.

Further details indoors: As the chalet is laid out over three levels it allows an extra degree of flexibility and space for mixed groups, be they a group of friends or families. We find for example that the younger people tend to spend their time downstairs in the TV/music room whilst the quieter or more mature members of the party tend to congregate upstairs taking advantage of the views from the balcony or enjoying a glass of wine around the log fire.
Further details outdoors: In the winter the kids (and adults) can enjoy sledging from the upper level to the lower level of the garden.
In the Spring, Summer and Autumn the garden is perfect for the children (and adults) to play. We have swings, table tennis, garden games, barbeque and a trampoline. At certain times of the year you are welcome to help yourselves to the fruit trees and bushes. (Cherries, plums, strawberries and raspberries).
Further details
We offer competively priced private airport transfers direct from Geneva airport. In the winter season we can organise ski/board hire (including delivery to the chalet) and are also happy to assist on booking lift passes and ski schools/mountain guiding. In the Spring Summer and Autumn we are well located for access to the cable cars and valley trails for parapenting, walking, trail running and mountain biking. The nearest climbing area is about ten minutes walk away plus access to the high mountains is easy as the Aiguille De Midi and Brevant are only 5 minutes walk away.
Conditions
The chalet has stairs to the first and second floors. Elderly or infirm guests may therefore be restricted to the ground floor which has a TV room/living room, bedroom, shower and toilet.

Guestbook for Chalet Le Courtil
Thank you so so much for our week at Chalet Le Courtil. It was absolutely perfectly located for us and had everything we needed. I've asked everyone to give comments on it and here are some of the responses: Excellent location for ski bus and nightlife Bedrooms were all great Your local agents were extremely helpful All the necessary facilities The DVD collection went down very well Everyone came away saying it was one of the best weeks of their life! The skiing was also great, fantastic weather for it. Chamonix's reputation as 'disjointed' is wholly unfair! It meant each day we skiied a different area and many of the runs were beautiful. We particularly liked Les Houches and Brevant - with the more advanced skiiers liking Les Grand Montets the best. I'd also like to thank you for booking the transfers, it all went very smoothly and didn't even charge us for the 4am departure! Also the people in the ski hire shop were fantastic and had everyone kitted out in minutes, one of our group even broke their pole, went to pay for a replacement and they said not to worry about it! Again thank you so much for everything and making it such a fantastic holiday for us all! If any of us return to Chamonix in a large group I'm 100% sure we'll enquire after le courtil! Chrissie
The chalet was great and we had a lovely time - especially given the great weather and conditions. Location of the chalet was ideal. Thanks for helping us make our holiday such a great success. Everything was sorted out when we left and we got the transfers back no problems. Thanks again, Lucy
Thanks. We all had a fantastic time in Chamonix and in the chalet. The chalet met all our expectations. It's facilities, proximity to town, the slopes etc were all great. One of the girls broke her arm and all the dvds in the tv rom were a great help to pass her time! Everything else was great. Your local agent was very nice and informative too. Thanks again. You might be hearing from us or from some of our friends in the future. Aideen
I wanted to say thank you for providing our group with such a great place to spend Christmas this year. We had a great time and I think it was a Christmas none of us will ever forget. It's especially tough for the non-married military folks at Christmas because we're stationed so far from our families back in the States, so it was nice for all of us to be together and have a lot of fun skiing, etc for the holidays. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas as well and a Happy New Year! Cheers, Nick Smith
