The Rhone/French Alps region

Chamonix is probably best known as the skiing and alpine capital of the world. As a destination it has a reputation for the extreme and this, whilst undoubtedly true, can mask a wide array of sporting and leisure activities (particularly in summer), peace and quiet, great nightlife, and superb scenery that can be enjoyed at whichever pace suits you. Chamonix is the perfect place to come for a weekend break or a week's holiday. In fact there is so much to do out here many people decide not to go back!

The skiing in the Chamonix Valley is spread over 5 separate areas which are linked by a regular and efficient bus service included in the lift pass. At the base of the Valley is Les Houches. From the Chamonix centre Le Brévent which is linked to La Flégère. Up the Valley is Les Grands Montets at Argentière and finally Le Tour.

There are fabulous walking and running trails all over the valley, some are world famous and every year Chamonix hosts the ultimate 'Ultra Trail' covering over 154km in August. For hikers this trail is known as Le Tour du Mont Blanc (5+ day walking trip).

The climbing is spectacular with the highlight being the annual Climbing World Championships in July. Mountain biking is very popular for both cross-country and down-hilling trails and the golf course in Chamonix is of a very high standard with excellent facilities. During the summer the alpine rivers swell from the mountain snow and the white water activities really come into their own.

SKIING: Chamonix provides skiing for all abilities with nursery slopes at Les Planards, Les Chosalets as well great ski schools at all the ski resorts. However, Chamonix is ideal for the intermediate and advanced skier. The intermediate runs boast excellent groomed pistes, trails and mogul fields. For the expert skier there is limitless off piste skiing and some of the steepest and most challenging runs in the Alps including the awe-inspiring 22km ski down the Vallée Blanche on the Mer de Glace with a mountain guide.

"Compact but perfect"

I stayed at Studio Trop Beau with a friend as we wanted a short break boarding in the Chamonix area and I can honestly say this apartment was perfect. Although pretty small, it was plenty big enough for the two of us (imagine a largeish hotel room with foldaway bunks and a double bed crammed in along with a small kitchen in the corner). Given we literally slept in the place, had breakfast and then were out all day it was ideal.

Location was pretty good, it's in the Chamonix Sud area, 5 mins walk to the Alpe du midi cable car, 10 mins walk to the Brevent lift and about 5 mins walk to the main ski bus stop in the Sud area. Handily there's a spar right behind the block for food etc., a couple of bars located underneath and it's a 5 min walk max into the main town/streets to find other bars and restaurants.

I've stayed in Chamonix before, in a hotel, and I can honestly say this apartment was better value, more centrally located and of a better standard (plus free sky TV and wifi was a bonus).

"try somewhere else"

We were psyched about this place, even though there weren't reviews. From the pictures, it was obvious it was small, and that was fine. It actually was very livable for two. What the review di… More

We are sorry that you only rated our lovely Chamonix studio with a 2 out of 5.
Your last minute booking and price of 100euros for your stay we hope reflected the inconvenience from the temporary scaffolding recently errected in preparation for the paintwork to the building.
Our apartment is managed in resort, ChamServe meet and greet all our guests. With their office just round the corner from the apartment, they are on hand to help with any issues or questions you may have about your booking, the property and resort. I'm afraid that they were not made aware of any issues by you and would have provided a fan.
We hope that we can welcome you back in the future for an enjoyable holiday. – Chamonix Holidays Team.
