The studio apartment is on the top (6th) floor of a recently built chalet-style building (with lift). It is situated mid-way on the road between the 2 main lifts in Les Houches, about 500m from each. A short (off-piste) traverse will take you to the Telecabine de Prarion, and equally you can ski straight back to the building, again off-piste, a rare claim in the Chamonix valley!
Les Houches is approximately 7 km from Chamonix town. There is a regular bus service to Chamonix and its ski areas (Aiguille du Midi, Brevent, Flegere, Grand Montets and Le Tour). The bus stop is right outside the building. There is also free, outdoor parking outside the building.
There is a bakery, several restaurants and sports shops (including ski rental) within 5 minutes walk of the apartment. The centre of Les Houches village, with the Tourist Office, Supermarket, and further restaurants and bars, is 1 km, or 15 minutes walk away.

The apartment is 25 m2 in size, consisting of an entrance area with a bunk bed and lounge area with double sofa bed. There is a sliding door between the bunk bed area and the lounge. There is a bathroom with bath and shower and a small but fully equipped kitchenette and a balcony with one of the best views in the Alps.
There is a TV and speakers for you to plug your MP3 player in to. There is a also a selection of board games.
On arrival, you will be met by my representative who will welcome you to the apartment, give you the keys and take the security deposit. She will be available throughout your stay, should you have any problems with the apartment. On departure, she will again be at the apartment to take the keys back.
The Rhone/French Alps region
The Rhone Alps, and Haute Savoie in particular are home to some of Western Europes highest peaks, including Mont Blanc. As you'd expect, mountain activities are the focus of most people's holidays in this area. However, beautiful old towns like Annecy and Evian provide plenty of alternatives for the less sporty!
The Chamonix valley is rightly famous world-wide as the home of Alpinism and is a mecca for the keen skier and climber. Having said that there is more than enough for the mere mortal to enjoy, with 5 separate ski areas in the valley, including the legendary 14km descent of the Vallee Blanche. There is a host of other activities available in the area. In the winter, these include snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, paragliding and ice-climbing. In the summer, climbing, walking and cycling take over as the main activities as well as rafting and canyoning, but there is plenty for the less adventurous to enjoy, with a spectacular golf course, tennis courts and plenty of swimming pools to lie by while you catch some Alpine rays!

"Great value apartment"
Lovely apartment on the top floor of a block amid the trees at Les Houches. Great view from the balcony of the chamonix valley and Mont Blanc. Added bonus having BBC 1 and 2 available. Access to covered car park so no need to clear snow every morning. Would definitely return.

Having stayed before i knew the location was perfect for getting to the ski lifts just a 3 minute walk away in a quiet location. If you dont have a car, few nearby local bars just 5 mins away, a 10-15 min walk is a supermarket and there are plenty of ski rental shops closeby in both the village or at the ski lift areas. Bus stop is right outside to take you between Les Houches and Chamonix. Some nice improvements made to the apartment, has all you need for a comfortable stay!

"Convenient Ski location"
This is a lovely little appartment within a larger chalet block. Very warm and cosy. Modern bathroom with powerful shower. Bunk beds in the corridor and a pull out comfy bed in the living area. Location is good, walking distance (but not really in painful ski boots) to the lift. Bus at end of drive. Easy walk to the centre of Les Houches for the supermarket. Would def stay again if we went back to the area.

"Thumbs up for les grand balcon"
The place was just right fir 2 people, and the chalet we had had just the best view ever. Location is quiet and just 3 minutes drive from Chamonix centre, and also a few minutes drive from the mont blanc tunnel.

Myself and my boyfriend have just come home from a fab week in Le Grand Balcon. We were there to ski and the location is fantastic. You have access to the Les Houches ski area and then a short bus ride or drive you have access to the whole Chamonix valley. We took our car and found this really useful but the bus does stop right outside the apartment.
The apartment has everything you need, comfy beds, good kitchen equipment and a hot shower/bath. The building was really quiet so no disturbance.
Great view from the balcony.
We enjoyed a few great meals in a local restuarant called le Baslic which is just round the corner from the apartment. There is a couple of bars to enjoy apres ski, one which has live music every day.
Would recommend to anyone and will hopefully come again.

"cosy apartment, great location"
We had a wonderful stay - perfect location for access to the slopes, cosy and great views.
We had four people in the apartment for a long weekend and it was just right. A short walk to lifts, hire shops, restaurants, supermarket etc...bus stop right outside to get to cablecars.

"Idyllic, beautiful apartment with stunning views and fantastic restaurants nearby!"
I visited the apartment with my sister in July for our first time to the Chamonix region. We were greeted by a very helpful property manager, Zoe. She continued to check on us throughout the trip, recommended local events and bus routes and a fab restaurant that we then dined at a few times during our stay.
The apartment itself was perfect, it got the sun throughout the day and then was cozy at night time with all the facilities you need. The bus stop is right outside and Les Houches is just lovely and had everything we needed and more.
We stayed for 5 nights and could easily have stayed 5 more, we will definitely be visiting again. The organisation from the owner, and Zoe whilst we were there was outstanding and took all the pressure off for us to just enjoy!

"Convenient location and very reasonable price"
Thankyou very much, had a wonderful week. The apartment is so convenient to walk over to the Prarion lift and nearby shops at Bellevue and would definitely return. The apartment had all that you need for a comfortable stay and found the representative very helpful with her knowledge of the area.
