The Chamonix / Les Praz area
Chamonix is famous the world over for its summer and winter activities. The birthplace of mordern alpinism and the host city for the first winter olympic games (1924), the town has a unique history and feel. During the winter, the main draws are skiing and snowboarding, while in the summer lots of outdoor activities are on offer such as hiking, mountaineering, paragliding, mountain-biking.
