Chamonix is situated in the north-westerly part of the Alps, just 15 km from the Swiss border and 15 km from Italy via the Mont-Blanc tunnel.
The town of Chamonix with its pedestrianised cobbled streets and squares, beautiful buildings and fast running river has an excellent choice of quality shops, boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants, clubs, casino and a saturday market that should not be missed.
The Chamonix Valley is consistently rated as one of the top ten ski areas in the world and a must by all ski enthusiasts. The legendary skiing caters for every taste and ability. Some 90% of the ski area is above 2000m with an excellent snow record and a long season from December to May. It is the home of the legendary 23 kilometre Vallee Blanche and the Kandahar World Cup downhill runs. The lift pass which, covers 750km of pisted skiing includes the elegant resort of Courmayeur in Italy that is a short hop through the Mont-Blanc tunnel.
As the snow melts and the valley begins to blossom, a colourful beauty unveils itself, the heart warming picture of alpine summer. The dramatic scenery within the Chamonix valley is truly magnificent and we believe, unsurpassed particularly at this time of year. The awe inspiring views entice outdoor enthusiasts to get up close and personal, to give way to the furore for nature in such abundance.
Following in the footsteps of Jacques Balmat and Michael Piccard who were the first recorded alpinists to reach the summit of Mont Blanc in 1786, mountaineers relish the challenge of this iconic and masterful peak. The attraction of these mountains has also drawn other adventure activities such as ice climbing, rock climbing, canyoning, paragliding, mountain biking and white water rafting; Chamonix has fast become the international capital of outdoor sports.
However, it's not just the super fit that aspire and fall in love with the region, there is something for everyone. Keen to encourage a healthy lifestyle, families have a multitude of activities which they can share, such as visiting the Merlet Animal Park, daring the Tyrolean Adventure Park or simply relaxing at the outdoor swimming pool and enjoying the waterslides. There are walking routes to suit all abilities with easy tracks along the river L'Arve up to Argentiere and increasing the levels as you ascend the mountains with the Tour du Mont Blanc for the more seasoned hikers.
Rather than follow trails, many chose to tread the fairways of Chamonix's 18 hole golf course in Le Praz and finish in the club house for a celebratory drink. Those wishing to experience the mountains without too much physical assertion, can ride the train up to the Mer de Glace or take Europe's highest cable car up to the Aiguille de Midi to view the 'roof top' of these French alpes, the panoramic view is spectacular and breath taking at 3842m.
The allure of this charming town, steeped with character and bustling with energy, draws its visitors time and time again. Experience a summer vacation in Chamonix staying in a luxury apartment - indulge yourself in luxury and stunning natural surroundings.

From lakes that have lifeguards and beaches, to mountain-side eco pools, waterfalls that cascade into natural swimming areas and rivers that can take you rafting or kayaking there is something for everyone in the glorious water running through this valley. Fishing is popular and even competitive with designated fishing and fly-fishing lakes.

I would highly recommend Chalet Serena to anyone. It is a five star experience. The chalet externally/internally is extremely attractive and the views are breath-taking. Inside it catered for all our needs and that is saying something as we have five children ranging from fifteen to seven years old. Every little detail had been well thought out from arrival to departure and nothing was too much trouble. We are definitely going to back. |
