It's rare to find a large chalet just a few minutes walk from the very centre of Chamonix - especially one that has been renovated to such a high standard. Chalet les Sauberands is a top quality 6-bedroom chalet that has been completely refurbished using the finest local materials, including aged oak and rejuvenated existing timbers. This chalet combines traditional Savoyard style with modern luxuries such as underfloor heating, Wifi on all floors, flat screen TVs, wired-in sound systems and a hot tub. The chalet opens into an entrance hall with large coat cupboard. There are two of the six bedrooms one of which has an en suite shower room and an additional WC. From summer 2012 onwards, there will be an additional en suite bathroom on this level. The lounge/media room has satellite TV which gives a range of UK channels and glass doors which open onto the deck.
From the hallway, a door gives access to the garage which has room for ski storage and a heated boot rack. The boiler room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside, on the deck, there is an eight-person hot tub with views of Mont Blanc. On the first floor, there is a bedroom, a bathroom and an additional WC. The living area is open plan and very spacious. The lounge area has comfortable seating and a stone fireplace. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped and the dining table seats 12. Three sets of glass doors open onto a balcony with mountain views. Steps lead down to the deck which has an eight-person hot tub and opens onto the garden. On the second floor, there are the remaining three bedrooms (one with an ensuite shower room) and a separate bathroom. The deck has outdoor dining furniture and there is a BBQ for use duting the Summer.
There is adequate parking space in the driveway. Chalet les Sauberands provides a luxurious and stylish chalet for up to 12 guests with the convenience of being a few minutes walk from the town centre.

The Rhône-Alpes region
Chalet les Sauberands is situated just to the east of the town centre. It is on Chemin des Sauberands and close to 'les Planards' nursery slopes. It is 450 metres on foot to Avenue Michel Croz, the start of the main shopping streets in Chamonix. The nearest supermarket is Casino in the town centre (650 metres) or Carrefour Market (same distance. There are a couple of restaurants and bars within 200 metres, but the main choices are in the town centre.
For access to the skiing, the nursery slopes of les Planards are a short walk away. For the main ski areas, the nearest is Brevent, just to the north of Chamonix centre, 1500 metres away (3-4 minutes by car or bus). The nearest bus stop is 200 metres away at the gare du Montenvers, with the main train station 450 metres away.
Chamonix Town Centre
Skiing and snowboarding: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18 km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.
Summer and the rest of the year: With the draw of Europe's premier natural attraction, Mont Blanc, Chamonix never sleeps. Whether it's simply to soak up the stunning scenery or get the adrenaline pumping, there is plenty for everybody to do all year round. There are a wide variety of marked trails for hiking and trekking; well-maintained bolted routes for rock-climbing; limitless mountaineering opportunities including Mont Blanc itself; an ever-expanding network of mountain bike trails; some of the most consistent thermals for superb paragliding; raging white water rapids for rafting and hydro speeding; canyoning and abseiling down the spectacular valley gorges; golf at the Trent Jones Sr designed 18 hole course in Chamonix, as well as many other top quality courses nearby; the sports centre has an indoor and outdoor 50 m swimming pool and a large grassed sunbathing area, water slides, numerous tennis courts, gym, spa, jacuzzi, the list goes on.
