Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2

This aptly named apartment is bright and beautifully appointed with a touch of luxury. It comprises a very large bedroom, king size shabby chic, four-poster bed with cream silk drapes and antique lace canopy, quality bedlinen, shabby chic cream and gold-leaf chandelier, matching bedside wall lights, 2 large mirrored walnut wardrobes, huge old pine blanket box, walnut antique drawers and dressing table mirror, shabby chic painted bedside tables, old style cast iron radiators and a lovely white painted wooden floor. It has two windows with views over the pretty courtyard garden of the old house and beyond, to lush green fields and gently rolling hills known as the foothills to the Pyrénées. The bedroom leads to a fully tiled luxury en suite bathroom in cream, with pretty slipper bath with roll top and claw feet, walk-in power-shower, lovely antique-style free-standing ceramic sink, shabby chic antique cream mirror and shelf over, wc & bidet with quality chrome appliances and a lovely antique cupboard stocked with a few bathroom essentials.
The bedroom is off the entrance hallway which houses a lovely old gold-waxed console table, old French gold leaf mirror, and old style cast iron radiator. The hall is open to a large room which is half lounge and half diner/kitchen, all open plan with white painted wood floors. In the lounge area there's a large cast iron radiator, TV (with Sky, freeview English channels), shabby chic cream painted cabinet with DVD player, lovely soft Habitat deep feather sofa in muted greens and aubergine chenille feather cushions, antique brass floor lamp and walnut occasional table. The aspect of this room is over Rue de la liberte. Its opposite the crumbling stone tower of the chapel of St Jean. The two double glazed windows have lovely coordinating chenille drapes. In the dining area there's a pretty round table and chairs for two, a beautiful antique walnut sideboard stocked with board games, books, dvds and cds and local information; a cd player, huge table lamp and CD player. The kitchen is very beautifully crafted with solid walnut worktops, chrome sink units and taps. Lansdowne walnut & aubergine curved cupboards, some glazed and some solid wood, form the stylish studio kitchenette which houses an under counter fridge. Everything in the kitchen is of exceptional quality and beautifully coordinated, even the lovely whirlpool aubergine combination microwave oven. There's a matching kettle and coffee machine, single induction-hob, units and drawers stocked with ample cutlery, utensils, crockery, pots, pans and an electric steamer. Whilst the kitchen may not be geared for those wanting to practice for the next Master Chef competition, it has everything necessary to prepare and enjoy home cooked meals. The apartment has free wifi, wireless internet access. You will need your own pc.
The rooms are very large in appartement Luxe - to give an impression of size, the apartment was once 5 rooms! It can easily take a cot and high chair for an infant if required but its not really suited for older children. The Luxe is ideal for couples who mainly enjoy sampling the local cuisine offered by several excellent local restaurants, but want the option to cook the occasional meal for themselves; those who are looking for a base to explore this stunning area but want to abandon the hiking boots at the door and enjoy a touch of luxury and pampering, without having to pay luxury prices. Mobility is an issue because the Luxe is on the first floor of a very large 400 year old house accessed by a wide winding staircase. It has been lovingly restored from what was once an old barn and salting room where hams were prepared and hung up to dry. All that now hints of its history is the beautiful shabby roof rafters, these have been lime washed in the open plan lounge to give a beautiful lightness to the room. In the bedroom they have been left natural to add warmth.

The Luxe is on the same floor as the Bijou, another one bedroomed apartment and would be ideal for two couples who want to holiday together, live in close proximity but require independent private spaces. The two apartments share the entire first floor of a lovely old house with an open plan library separating them. The library is well stocked with books, dvds and cds, a lovely antique desk and chair, old wooden fireplace with cast iron inset and log effect fire. For larger groups the apartments can be let with the La Petite Maison and L'ancienne boulangerie; together these will house up to 14 adults.

There is a lovely courtyard garden behind the house which is used by the owners and their pets but can be made available to apartment guests by prior arrangement.
