La Petit Maison aux Chataigne is a converted barn adjoining our 150 year old stone farmhouse. Surrounded by open countryside with far reaching views, it has luxury accommodation in a relaxing setting. The cottage has exposed beams and natural stone walls, with a private patio garden.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region

There are several marked footpaths and cycle routes surrounding us. A short drive will take you to the beautiful Mervent Forest where there is an Adventure park and small zoo. The Marais Poitevin a labrynth of canals and waterways hidden beneath a canopy of pollarded Ash and Populars - is a must. The numerous pretty villages are a delight and there are Punts, Canoes and Kayaks available for hire. The Puy du Fou Medieval Theme Park is 20 minutes away, and Futuroscope is just over the hour. There is a large angling complex about 15 minutes from us and on the way you will pass another Adventure Park and Go- Kart track.
Several of the Loire Chateaux are close enough for a day out.
The Poitou-Charentes boasts the most hours of sunshine throughout France,

Cerizay / Montravers area

Our local town is Cerizay, and has two supermarkets, a choice of shops and an English speaking Doctor, Dentist and Pharmacy.There are weekly markets taking place in all nearby towns, and also many good restaurants, the nearest being less than 10 minutes away.

How to get there

The Airports at Nantes, Poitiers and La Rochelle are all just over an hour away. A collection service can be arranged with prior notice.

The ports of Cherbourg and Cean are about 4 hours away.

The cottage has been converted to a high standard to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. We have stayed in several under equipped holiday homes and with this in mind have equipped ours with every need in mind, especially comfortable seating and a well equipped kitchen. We have kept as many original features as possible and the natural stonewalls and beams have been left exposed.

The cottage has a private patio garden with garden furniture and a Barbecue, plus an acre of gardens with trees, shrubs, a large play area for the children shared with owners, and an outdoor pool with decking and seating area,

Play area and swimming pool are shared with owners, the pool is closed from 8.00pm - 10.00am

Changeover days are sat - sat, however out of season is flexible subject to availabilty, a refundable damages deposit of £100 required
