Home description
Villa Wisteria is situated in the quiet outskirts of St Jean Pla de Corts but only two minutes from the centre of this thriving village with shops and bar / restaurant. This well-built villa is centred in a large garden with plenty of mature trees to provide shade and privacy. The garden is enclosed with secure off-road parking ample for three cars. Four steps lead up from the garden to the paved veranda part of which is roofed and part in the shade of a large wisteria. From this veranda there are views across the valley to the Pyrenees and the Alberes hills. Also, the pool can be seen from the veranda but is sheltered from the road by a tall fence. This is an ideal place for a family holiday where you can finish each day relaxing outside in the warm evening air, watching the lights twinkling across the valley.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
Villa Wisteria is situated on the outskirts of the small village of St Jean Pla de Corts. This part of the south of France is called the Languedoc-Roussillon and is an area of contrasts.
It is bordered by the Mediterranean on the east and has the Mediterranean climate to go with it. The coast is not developed to the same extent as the Côté d'Azur. The flat land along the coast is covered in vineyards and much of the early fruit and vegetables for the rest of France come from the region. The ridge of the Pyrenees dips down to the coast and forms a natural boundary between France and Spain. You can be cycling, walking or driving through vineyards or orchards full of cherries or peaches in the full heat of a Mediterranean summer, and have the snow crowned peak of Mt Canigou (the highest peak at the eastern end of the Pyrenees) rising in the background.
Ceret area
Villa Wisteria is situated in the quiet outskirts of St Jean Pla de Corts but only two minutes from the centre of this thriving village with shops and bar / restaurant. There is easy access to the sea (25 min), Spain (10 min) and the medieval town of Ceret (5 min). St Jean has two lakes with leisure facilities (swimming, fishing, children's activities). Ceret has an excellent Saturday market, restaurants and museum of modern art. Sandy beaches are easily accessible as are the attractive coastal towns of Collioure and Banyuls. Figueres (Dali museum) is easily accessed across the nearby Spanish border making a day trip to Barcelona possible (train from Figueres). There is excellent walking in the hills.
