The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
With so much sunshine and such varied terrain Languedoc-Roussillon is a mecca for those looking for something to do and the list of activities is endless. Just to mention a few; golf, fishing, wine tasting, canoeing, rock climbing, biking and horse riding. Don’t forget Spain and Costa Brava that also have pleny to offer.
The Ceret area
Céret has only 7500 inhabitants, but the museum is open all year and the town is alive also in the winter even if the lively summer months are something very special. The town has several good restaurants but don’t miss shopping at the Saturday market, home cooking and just enjoy the quiet evening on the terrace. You can walk into the forest of the Pyrénées straight from the center of town and there are several walks to choose between, also in groups with trained guides.

This apartment has a lot going for it and we enjoyed our stay immensely. It is large with a separate tv/spare bedroom enclave, a large dining/living room, large outdoor terrace and a really nice shower (full American style) as part of the not so large bathroom off the master bedroom. The apartment is centrally located, only a few blocks to the Modern Art Museum and other services but it is quiet for two reasons: when you enter from the street you progress through a short corridor so the apt does not face or have any walls common to the street, 2nd the other end of the apt overlooks green space. Also, the bedroom part, which is on the green space side does not have any building above it. The kitchen is well-equipped the only downside being a lack of counter space. The dining table is large and can seat six comfortably. The wifi works like a charm and there's a washer adjacent to the second bath (sink/toilet only). When we were there the owner had a very large eclectic DVD collection which was fun to peruse. The. tv also had a gazillion stations but who needed it with the DVD collection? The apt is at street level, so no stairs but there are one-step transitions when in the apt such as hall to tv/bedroom, hall to main kitchen/living area and one step from main living area down to bedroom. The sunsets on the west facing terrace were special and even sunrises were colorful out there. The only comment we gave the owner for possible improvement was to light the west end of the main living area better but that was probably due to a ceiling light not functioning in that area. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would stay here for any future visit to charming Ceret. We spent 10 days there doing side trips and exploring Ceret. We were very satisfied with Ceret as a base for the region and with the town itself. For a great dinner try La Catala, lot of other great restaurants in Ceret too and a couple of well-stocked wine shops including one right around the corner from this apartment!

My husband and I love Ceret so when we found this apartment for our two week stay we were thrilled. Beeing right in town, with bakeries, butchers and other small shops as well as lovely little cafes and restaurants in short walking distance, the apartment was still very private and quiet with a huge terrace with a lovely view.
Inside the apartment is lovingly restored with a mix of antique and modern furniture and the small kitchen has everything for the aspiring French chef...

This is a comfortable, well-appointed apartment with all modern conveniences, even a dishwater, and a garage. There is a lovely terrace for meals or general relaxing. A bakery, a grocery and several good restaurants are a block or two away. Céret is an excellent location for exploring the area. The owner is charming and responsive. Highly recommended!
