About the home

La Cerisaie is perfectly located below the 13th cent in the conservation area of the Ermitage de St. Ferreol. The villa is set in 12 acres of private garden and woodland, surrounded by cherry orchards and vineyards. The views are magnificent with views of Mount Canigou, the Pyrenees, the Roussillon plains and the Mediterranean!

The town of Ceret is 4km from the Villa and is well known for its museums festivity. The city is lively and boasts its richness in art and architecture. Ceret is also well known for food festivals, Saturday market, mimosa and cherries.
Autumn Specials. B & B Twin bedded room or Double room both with ensuite. Short breaks a speciality £120 per room per night. Friendly welcome to our beautiful villa. Continental Breakfast included. Evening dinner can be prepared by special request.
We can offer a tranquil location with stunning views of Canigou and the Mediterranean in our villa surrounded by books, TV, art, and every comfort.

Villa La Cerisaie consists of entrance hall with cloakroom and W.C, extensive sitting room with adjoining library, a south facing balcony and full length conservatory.

The villa is furnished to a high standard with various paintings and objects d'art. Perfect for yoga retreats. Lessons offered by well qualified and experienced teacher within your own domaine of Villa la Cerisaie beginning summer 2014. Painting lessons for those who wish by well qualified professional artist and teacher. All manner of crafts can also be taught for those who enjoy cultural persuits. Trips to well known local places by expert historian possible also.

The house is surrounded by a large terrace enclosing the mosaic swimming pool with Jacuzzi and solar shower. There is an outside Bar-B-Que, gaz & wood, and kitchen area with more terracing and a summer house adjacent to the pool. Use of private pool.

Special offer for March 2013. Reduction for of approximately 10% for those who pay in full on reservation. Full price for 25% deposit of asking price only.

25% of the total cost required for reservation. A security deposit also required, returnable within two weeks of departure, to cover possible damage to the property.
Bed and Breakfast offered as alternative from September through to end of June. £80 per night per room with ensuite or £180 per weekend. Log fire possible for winter evenings and use of Sitting room, library and TV. Evening meal by request extra.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

The area is ideal for for walks in the nearby foothills of the Pyrenees. Other outdoor pursuits available in the area are canyoning, climbing, paragliding, horse riding, trekking, fishing, golf and mountain biking (available for hire!).

The area is rich in history beginning with prehistoric man (450,000 years old) whose remains lie in the Tautavel museum near Rivesaltes. Romanesque churches with frescoes from the middle ages bear witness to the rich development of new styles of church architecture.

The Ceret area

The villa is located near St. Ferreol and Ceret. St. Ferreol with its surroundings grounds is a place of quite solitude and serenity. It is great for walks and relaxing with the scenic beauty,

Ceret has a more cultural feel and is known for the vibrant and artistic history. Great to visit for its markets and museums. Cultural events throughout summer season. Good restaurants. Ideal for exploring countryside & seaside.

(From Barcelona or Perpignan)

Take auto-route A9 to Le Boulou (either the first or last exit in France depending on which direction you come from).

If you come from Perpignan Airport you have to go back about 7km to get on the auto- route at Perpignan Nord ((direction Narbonne) otherwise drive into Perpignan and follow signs Barcelona A9 - Perpignan Sud to get on auto-route.

You can follow route through Perpignan Centre signposted Barcelona & Le Boulou, less easy if you are not familiar with Perpignan.

Leaving motorway exit at Le Boulou turn right at roundabout in the direction Amelie-les- Bains & Ceret. (D115).

After about 2 kms cross roundabout at St Jean Pla de Cors following direction the Amelie and Ceret. In another 2kms cross another roundabout and shortly afterwards you will see Intermarché on your left, keep straight on for Ceret. Cross very small roundabout and after ½ km turn right (after Ford garage on left) direction Llauro/Oms. If you overshoot this you will shortly come to another roundabout so you can turn back round and turn left for Llauro passing old bridge. Straight up the hilly road under 4 metre railway bridge and continuefor about 4kms up a winding mountainous road.

Take first proper road to the right signposted “‘Ermitage de St. Ferreol’, Site Historique - Chapelle de X111 Siecle.” After about 200Metres take first ‘piste A47’ to the right (small wooden sign on corner @La Cerisaie’ and continue down this lane past an empty cazote (shepherds hut) on right and take first turn left - signposted with hand painted sign ‘VILLA LA CERISAIE’

If by any chance you end up at the Ermitage you can look back down and see our house with white balustrade round pool and motor home outside. Just turn back round and you will find us.
