About the home
Being, it is believed, the original building on this site, it is attractvely old. In the cottage, there are two bedrooms, one double down stairs with access to the garden and pool area, and one twin up stairs, accessed from the staircase in the kitchen/diner. The sitting room is spacious and is adjacent to the kitchen / diner There is a separate toilet and shower room off the adjacent passage. There is an en-suite shower room, with toilet and hand basin off the upstairs bedroom. The outside seating area faces the front garden, thereby giving privacy from the Farmhouse if required. The Cottage is comfortable, it is not cramped.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region
With a climate that is not as hot as the South of France, but where temperatures regularly reach the late 30's to early 40's in the summer yet it is green. The location is generally equidistant from Bordeaux, Angouleme, Cognac and St. Emilion, being north of the Bordeaux wine region, south of the Cote du Blaye and Cote du Bourg region. Not only known for its wine, this area is close to the Gironde estuary, and many historic sights connected with the pilgrims route to St. Jacques de Compostella, with many old churches, pilgrim's hospitals, and the like. The Dune du Pyla (by Arcachon) and Palmyr Zoo are also within driving distance.
The Cercoux area
The local area is a farming community just North of the Bordeaux region and at the southern end of the Cognac region. Cercoux is a small village with a bakery which delivers to Le Moulin, two garages, a small shop and two hairdressers. Montguyon (10 minutes) has banks, a large supermarket, butchers (one of whom delivers to Le Moulin) and all other necessities for your stay.
Apart from the 90kms of cycle / walking / riding paths we are also close to stables for riding. For a local day out there are two converted quarries with swimming, sandy beaches,pedallos and cafe/bars. It is also possible to hire bikes by the week and they can be delivered to and collected from Le Moulin.
Local markets take place all round here, in Coutras, Libourne, Montendre, Riberac, Blaye and a smaller one in and Montguyon.

By Ferry from UK to Caen, or St. Malo from Portsmouth or Weymouth. Foerm Caen we are 6 and a half hours and from St. Malo we are 5 and a half hours. Full "How to Get Here" instructions are sent to each visitor.
From Calais it is about 9 hours by Road.
By air using Flybe or Ryanair to Bergerac and Easyjet, Flybe, BMIBaby and BA to Bordeaux.
We are just over an hour from Bergerac and about an hour from Bordeaux and the same from Angouleme.
If hiring a car it is best to take advantage of the facilities offered by the Flight companies although it can be arranged locally in Libourne.
