The Yorkshire region

York is a beautiful city in its own right, yet, is also a fantastic location to access the Yorkshire Coast, the Dales and cities for shopping e.g. Leeds and Harrogate. There are a wealth of fabulous beauty spots and places of interest both within York and within a short drive.

Local places of interest are Castle Howard, Beningborough Hall and Harewood House - fine stately homes. Pickering with its steam railway, historic Knaresborough with Mother Shipton's Cave, Helmsley, a quaint town with its own castle and 2 grand abbeys close by.

The Yorkshire Coast is approximately 1hr away with Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Flamborough Head, Filey and Bridlington as places with natural beauty, history and wild life. Lightwater Valley and Flamingoland are two popular theme parks approx 1hr away by car or bus.

Central York

York is an all year round place to visit. It is a haven of tourist attractions suitable for adults and children alike many of which are under cover making it an ideal family holiday what ever the British weather throws at us! York is known as a 'City of Festivals', the list is endless (google 'York Festivals' for more details). Examples include festivals for Food and Drink, Science, Vikings, Dance, Ebor (racing) and various Christmas festivals.

Attractions include : The Minster, numerous Museums (including The National Railway Museum and Castle Museums), Jorvik Centre, York Dungeon, York Ghost Tours, Horse and Cart Rides, Tour Buses and the historic city walls.

If you like shopping then York has a varied selection of designer shops and boutiques. Regular themed markets are held in the square and then at night York comes into it's own with more tourist events, bars, night clubs and eating places to suit every style and pocket.

"great bed, but many irritants"

Couole Management team, wife very nice but the main bug bear her husband- put me off the accomodation that I would never recommend it to anyone.Rang me in middle of work time to highlight I must arri… More

Last minute booking, unfortunately. Advised the client to book through Holiday Lettings; said she would like it cheaper, and would pay cash on arrival.Telephoned me from railway station one hour after arrival time given, to state no taxis were available [rather strange!] so I drove to the station to collect her. We did offer possibility of paying by bank transfer, which was declined. We met the following day when we were told she only had approximately half the rental fee. The following day we had to arrange to meet again for the balance. As stated in the review, the lady went outside to smoke at 9.55 a.m. Shortly before 10 a.m.[ her preferred check out time], I asked if the Invoice, which she asked me not to date was suitable for her, and to return the £ 200.00 cheque bond.
Fortunately, as she was going down the stairs, we noticed the keys were missing, and managed to reclaim them.
Rest assured, we tried our best to be helpful,[ see all other reviews] as always;and are somewhat bemused by this review; but not surprised!
