It is divided into 3 apartments, and can be used as 3 different holiday rentals or it can be booked as a whole, offering the marvellous opportunity to organise that special family celebration or holiday. Plenty of facilities to holiday together, whilst enjoying your own space and enjoy your own unique house party in the very heart of the city. Monkgate has a handsome exterior, it is a 4 storey town house which sits proudly on one of the wide and prestigious routes into the city, it has the rare facility of a large walled garden to the rear of the house, this is now gravelled and is used as parking for the house. There is 1 parking space with each apartment and an additional 4th space if 2 cars are parked tandem.

As Christmas approaches, the Early Music Festival in November and the very popular St Nicholas Fayre keep the streets bustling with excitement; not forgetting all the many and varied music and religious festivals in York Minster.

"Great location for new year break"

"Fantastically placed for the City"

You can't get much closer to the City walls of York when staying here.

The place was very clean and furnished with the period of the property in mind, ideal for groups.

We stayed as an all girl group, it was perfect for what we needed, would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

"Lots of character"

We come to York every year for the start of our 'Christmas festivities' so we have stayed in various apartments in and around the City and this is definitely one of the best and we would indeed return!
The owner/Managers were great both before and during our stay. They communicated well and sent full details in good time before our arrival and they also contacted us when we arrived to make sure everything was to our liking. And indeed it was, especially the thoughtful hamper with Tea,milk,coffee and mince pies! :-)
The property is full of character and a great layout, especially with a young child.
The only thing I would say is that as this is an old Georgian property with high ceilings, sash windows etc,all the features that make it a stand out property, it can get cold in the Winter months and so I would simply advise to make sure you take dressing gowns, no need for hot water bottles as they are just one of the little extras that are already supplied for your stay!
All in all a great holiday rental, full of charm,character,very centrally located but with no city noise...and we even got a late check out at no extra cost due to the property not being immediately rented on our departure.
We will def. be back next year!

"Really very good"

A beautifully presented apartment with a lot of character. It had a warm and friendly feel and was very clean and tidy. Odd quirkiness in the layout with the fridge/freezer in the hall way and the the shower hose trapped inside the soap dish... but these were not worth worrying about. So often rental accommodation can seem tired and functional, lacking charm... but not this one, which had bags of charm and was also in a fantastic position near to the Minster. The price was very reasonable.

"Home from home near the centre of York"

We visited York to see our son at university and to have a holiday at the same time. We chose 45 Monkgate let by York Holiday Homes at random and were pleasantly surprised to find that the property owner and staff were friendly and helpful and keen to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.

We all loved the property itself - clean, plenty of space for the 6 of us (3 adults and 3 teenagers), comfortable (could not get anyone to go out on the last night!) and we all felt at home there. There is parking for a car and it is very close to the centre of York - the Minster, Shambles etc. so there were no complaints about having to go too far on foot!

I would definitely recommend this property and York Holiday Homes.

"Amazing Easter Weekend"

Stayed in the whole of 45 word to describe the complete experience is 'amazing' from the customer service I received from York Holiday Homes (answered all my 'many' annoying questions with really helpful answers and great I had never been to York before) to the accommodation which was absolutely fantastic. Each apartment in Monkgate house has a stunning and really spacious living room and all the kitchens have all the mod cons... and with little touches like pints of milk and little biscuits left for our arrival........... it really took the stress of organising a large trip away knowing we were staying in such lovely accommodation. The location was also fantastic and this actually saved us all money as we did-not need to use taxis as we were able to walk into York to carry out the activities we had planned I will definitely be back for another holiday as even if there was not as many of us as we could just stay in one/two of the apartments!
