The Yorkshire region
Yorkshire has so much to offer. From the wonderful cities of York, Leeds and Harrogate, through to pretty villages, rolling countryside or grand coastline, there is so much to see and do.
For more inspiration on things to see and do in 'Gods own country' - visit http://www.yorkshire.com/
There is never a shortage of things to see and do in York and there are many events taking place throughout the course of the year, many of which you will stumble across as the street entertainment and festivals are aplenty. We would always recommend you visit the York Tourist Information site to see what is happening during your stay but some of our particular favourite things to do are;
A day at York races - the perfect opportunity to dress up and drink champagne at one of England's most popular race courses.
Picnic in York's Museum Gardens.
Take a River Cruise along the River Ouse.
Rest and have a cup of tea at Bettys Tea Rooms.
Be spooked on the York Ghost Walk.
Take in the peace and tranquillity at the magnificent York Minster.
Go back in time and tackle the Vikings at the Jorvik Viking Centre and Dig.
Take a round or two of Golf at Heyworth Golf Course with Views of the Minster or Fulford Championship Course.

"Beautiful apartment, would definitely come again."
I would thoroughly recommend this apartment. From the excellent organisation to the beautifully executed décor and convenient location. Sarah's high standards really pay off, thank you for a wonderful stay.

"AMAZING, cannot wait to return."
Definitely recommended to all. Amazing apartment in an amazing location. Only a few minutes walk to The Shambles, if that, and York Minster is literally on the door step. Lovely touch on arrival with a gift of scones from the famous Betty's Team Room. The apartment was spotless and the owner was very helpful. Cannot wait to stay again over summer. Thanks again.

"Beautiful property, great location, fabulous service"
I was looking for somewhere to stay for a lazy weekend in York, and found this apartment. The photos looked pretty good, the location looked decent enough, and the price seemed fair. When I arrived at the apartment (a short taxi trip from the station, but easily walkable) what I actually found was that the photos didn't quite capture just how beautiful the property actually was. The rooms had high ceilings and were well fitted and furnished, with the main living and kitchen area feeling light and airy whilst the bedroom maintained a more cosy atmosphere. The kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a couple of fresh scones, and a few essentials like salt and oil. The living area had a few games and a small stash of DVDs, and the bathroom came equipped with towels and dressing gowns. In terms of location the apartment is well placed, a brief walk from the Minster and with a small supermarket literally a few seconds walk away from the door. We spent most of the weekend indoors due to the weather, but it would be equally well placed as a base to explore the city. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, or to recommend this location to anybody else.

"Fantastic accommodation - far better than a hotel!"
We have just returned from a very relaxing weekend in York, staying at apartment 1, Bootham. Having previously stayed in a hotel on our last visit ( and being disappointed with it ) we were delighted with our choice of apartment. The standard of decor was very high and comfort and cleanliness equaled any 5-star hotel we've stayed in. The location is excellent and we were able to leave the car in the car park for the whole weekend and walk to all the attractions of York. Sarah, the owner, met us on our arrival and explained everything to us about the apartment, parking etc. and she had even left us fresh scones from Betty's!

We have just returned from a great week in York. It is the first time we have visited the city and can see now why it is so popular. The apartment was brilliantly located for all the sites. The apartment had everything we needed and although in the centre of York very quiet. Sarah was very welcoming and keen to ensure that our stay was hassle free. The welcome goodies were a good start! Thank you

"This accommodation is the 'bees knees'!"
This is a very well thought- out apartment, extremely comfortable and being situated so close to everything you would care to visit in York, we were able to pop back to the apartment within 5 - 10 mins., which we did regularly. Thanks to Sarah and this lovely city we had a wonderful holiday.

Flat was very attractive, comfortable and spacious. Brilliantly central - good pubs, good restaurants and sights minutes away. Flat was beautiffuly light and airy, drenched in sunlight through the large windows. It was exactly as it looked on the web. The living room overlooks a busy road, but the double glazing meant it was very quiet. Bedroom is at the back and is also very quiet. Unreservedly recommended.

"Exceeded all expectations - just fantastic!"
What a wonderful weekend we had. The apartment was everything we had hoped for - and more! It was stylishly decorated, well-appointed, spotlessly clean and conveniently located for sight-seeing and shopping. The sitting room overlooks a main road, but the sound from the traffic below is fine, and as the bedroom is to the rear of the apartment, overlooking a quiet car park, our sleep was not disturbed at all. York is a beautiful city, with plenty to see and do, and a good selection of relaxed, friendly bars and good restaurants. We'd thoroughly recommend a visit. Thank you for making us feel so welcome Sarah - we'll definitely be back!

"An unbeleivably wonderful stay ... it was too short!"
Our stay at No 1 Bootham, York was perfect. The owner met us at the apartment and helped us with parking and made our arrival very easy. The apartment is perfect with everything you could possibly need, clean and tastefully decorated. The location is ideal as the heart of York, the Minster, is about 2 minutes walk from the front door. I would recommend staying here and would return tomorrow. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer as it was not only like a home away from home but personally I could easily live there. Yes it is that good. And thanks to Sarah for her help and friendly personality.

"Home away from Home..."
I can highly recommend a stay at Apartment 1 Bootham. I was lucky enough to stay at Apartment 1 Bottham for 4 weeks. I truly believe this Apartment is 'Home away from Home'. I was impressed right from my initial contact with Sarah the owner. Sarah was prompt with her correspondence (even with the time difference to Australia) and made booking the Apartment a breeze. Sarah was so friendly, helpful and accommodating at all times. Sarah met me at the Apartment on my arrival and I was blown away with the fixtures, fittings and the quality of the decor. (and I am fussy) Sarah and her partner John have decorated this Apartment stylishly, as a guest you will need for nothing! The Apartment is fully self contained and equipt with everything you would require for a sort or long term stay. The bed is extremely comfortable and the lamps everywhere in the Apartment created a lovely homely feel. Sarah kindly gave me produce from the world famous Betty's Cafe as a kind gesture for a pleasant stay, all the goodies were was delicious! Gorgeous bathrobes were provided which were put to good use and top quality bed linen and towels were provided. Little touches such as candles, fragrant room sticks and scrumptious hand body wash and lotions were provided as well as a gorgeous Bath Oil. All small touches to make a stay an excellent experience. The location of the Apartment is second to non. It is within walking distance to all the wonderful city of York has to offer. There is a Sainbury's Supermarket near by the Apartment which was so handy. Restaurants and Pub's close. The location was an easy walk into the centre of York, no big hills for those who may require easy walking access. It is close to bus stops and if you do have a car you may like to ask Sarah about a car permit. I did use the car permit and knew my car was only a short walk away which made getting around convenient at all times. Free internet Wi-Fi in the Apartment was a bonus enabling me to keep in touch with others back in Australia! I hope to one day return to this amazing Apartment and enjoy the city of York and the stunning North Yorkshire countryside again, but I am thankful I had a wonderful holiday and an excellent stay in Apartment 1 Bootham.
