Further details outdoors

Ca'Amadi lies on the edge of the sestiere (district) of Cannaregio, a local residential area and a true ‘Venetian’s Venice’, with a wealth of food and artisan shops, bars and restaurants.

From the busy Campo San Bartolomeo, a street leads north towards the Church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, off which is the square of the Teatro Malibran, one of the city’s major venue for classical concerts. The Corte Ca’Amadi lies just to one side. Nearby is the house where Marco Polo lived.

On the edges of the sestieri of Cannaregio, Castello and San Marco, it is extremely convenient for the city’s main attractions, all of which are in easy walking distance. Equally, the quieter residential areas, with shops, bars and restaurants can easily be found close by and ‘off the beaten path’.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets and the residential sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Polo.

The Veneto region

Apart from the obvious and well known charms and attractions of Venice itself, this is an ideal base from which to explore the delights of the Veneto region.

The Palladian villas along the Brenta canal, the cities of Padua, Vincenza and Verona, the Euganean Hills and the Dolomites (with their skiing facilities) are all in easy reach.

"Quiet but Central Location"

We stayed in this apartment at the beginning of May. We had never visited Venice before and were worried about the location of the apartment. Our fears were unfounded and finding the apartment was simple thanks to the excellent directions given by the owners. The apartment is located in a quiet courtyard but is within easy reach of bars, restaurants, shops and vaporetto stops. The apartment is well equipped and has an abundance of books on Venice together with lots of information and recommendations which have been put together by the owners. This apartment suits a family and I feel certain that children would love the upstairs bedroom. It is also suitable for 4 adults as long as you are agile. The friends that we were with could not have managed the upstairs room although they are in their late 60's. Would we stay there again? Most certainly and we highly recommend this apartment. We hope to visit Venice again soon as we only scratched the surface and my mouth is still wide open at the wonder of it all!

"Lovely apartment"

We had a very relaxing 3 night break at Ca'Amadi at the beginning of November. The apartment is in a great location close to Rialto. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door and enjoyed returning to the apartment late afternoon to relax before exploring Venice by night. The owners have a good selection of guide books and make some useful suggestions from their experiences. We hope to return soon.

Stayed at the apartment over new year celebrating our honeymoon. Loved the location and the apartment. Very central, near Rialto bridge and st Marks. Apartment has everything you would need, nice little kitchen area including a dishwasher. Nice view onto courtyard area. Would love to come and stay again!!

"Location, Location, Location"

This is an excellent property, right in the heart of Venice yet very peaceful. Less than 5 minutes walk to Rialto, and most of Venice walkable within 30 minutes from the flat if you want to minimise using the expensive water buses. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from close by, and a helpful guide left in the property detailing where to try (and where to avoid!)

The apartment itself is lovely and characterful, although watch your head in the attic bedroom! Well equipped kitchen if you fancy self catering ,or just making a morning expresso before heading out for the day. Plenty of space for the 4 of us. We also enjoyed the spy film like rendezvous at the Rialto on our arrival, where we were met by the friendly and
helpful Irene.

Overall a fantastic place to stay in a fantastic city.

"Fantastic apartment in a beautiful city"

We stayed at Ca'Amadi to celebrate graduation, and were in Venice for four days. We didn't see nearly enough, and the time went far too quickly. Although it was very hot, the apartment provided a cool, comfortable and quiet retreat. We appreciated the thought that has been given to providing guests with information and tips, and managed to get delightfully lost in looking for places, but it really didn't matter. As well as doing the usual tourist things, we also had an early morning trip to San Michele, the cemetery island, which gave a very different insight to the Venetian people and city.

"a charming small apartment right in the heart of Venice"

We spent five nights in the apartment which is very near the Rialto Bridge and all local amenities. It was fully equipped and the service from the agents was excellent. We had an extremely enjoyable holiday there

"Highly Recommended"

Spent 4 days at this great apartment for my wife's birthday and can't fault anything. The meet and greet service is invaluable, there is no way we would have found the place at 10pm at night and they explained where everything was and pointed out the useful local infomation in the apartment. The place itself has everything you need, very comfortable and is located centrally by Rialto Bridge.

Highlt recommended for a couple or family (we travelled without the kids!)

Thank you - we'd love to return one day.

"This is a brilliant apartment in Venice."

We couldn't have been more pleased or impressed by this apartment. The location is superb, it was more spacious than we had imagined from the description, and the standard of contents is excellent. The meet and greet service worked really well, the greeter was most helpful and charming. The wide range of books on Venice is excellent and a lot of useful information is provided. Everything was immaculately clean and we found it so much better than a hotel because of the convenient location and the experience of living in a real Venetian courtyard building. We can't wait to go again.

"Broken air conditioner, bugs in upstairs bedroom, awful greeting service."

The owners force you to pay 35 euro to use a greeting service. We had to wait 30 minutes for the greeters in 90 degree heat. When they finally came they walked us five minutes watched as we hauled our luggage up three steep flights of stairs, they didn't know how to work the air conditioner, didn't know if there was internet -- 35 euro please. Total rip off. We figured out how to work the air conditioner ourselves but it broke on the second night so for two of the three nights we were there we had no air conditioning. We called the greeter/manager who said "we're sending someone right now. Don't worry, don't worry." When we left two days later still no air. The upstairs bedroom had tiny black bugs. The owner said they were probably mosquitos and we should have used some mosquito machine they mention in the info book, which the greeter never showed us. I think we are smart enough to know the difference between mosquitos and tiny black crawling bugs in the bed. The owner said they've almost had no complaints before and they would give us a discount if we returned -- which will never happen. Also there was no internet. The owners said it had broken a while ago and they were having trouble getting it fixed. No doubt.

In 6 years of lettings, no-one has complained about the 'meet & greet' cost or the service provided. This guest was very unlucky in having to wait.

It was unfortunate that one of the airconditioning units failed and it took a little time to repair; faults can often be dealt with by reference to the Manual in the apartment. There is a standby fan.

We visit at least 4 times each year and have never experienced bedbugs, nor have we received any complaints. The guest did not complain during her visit. The flat is cleaned after each visit. A friend of ours stayed a few days later without any such alleged problem. We provide electric mosquito repellants in each bedroom.
